Ammann put down the longest jumps in both rounds for the victory. Polish veteran Adam Malysz took silver, and 20-year-old Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria recovered from a disappointing first jump to earn bronze on his Olympic debut. ... Malysz, a four-time individual world champion who is still looking for his first Olympic gold, had been third after the first round and finished with 269.5 points. Schlierenzauer seemed to mistime his takeoff in the first round and squandered his chance for a gold with a mediocre 101.5-meter jump, but he climbed from seventh to third after soaring 106.5 meters in the second. see the picture: bi.gazeta.pl/im/3/7558/z7558103X.jpg

Another silver for another Polish favorite - Justyna Kowalczyk. Kowalczyk Gives Poland its Second Medal Kowalczyk took the silver in the women’s individual cross country skiing sprint on Wednesday, 17 February, at the 21st Winter Olympic games in Vancouver. The final race was neck and neck for much of the last half of the course, with Marit Bjoergen of Norway taking the lead from Kowalczyk only on the last corner, as Kowalczyk’s skis slipped slightly, giving the Norwegian an edge of about three metres down the stretch. The race was something of an upset, and may have ended very differently had the favourite, Petra Madjic, not slipped and fallen off the track during the qualifying round, sliding four metres over a steep edge and crashing into a tree, evidently injuring her ribs. Madjic finished all of the rounds in obvious pain, fighting her way to the finish line in an amazing display of discipline to take the bronze, only to be carried away by her teammates to receive medical attention at the finish line. The Madjic incident is one in a long string of organizational, safety, and weather-related problems for the games. see more pictures: www.krakowpost.com/article/1888

This is reall good comparing to the past. I remember during several olympic games in 80-es and earlu 90es we did not receive ANY medal during winter olympic.
Poles got two more medals. Another silver for Malysz and another medal - this time bronze for Justyna Kowalczyk
Second Olympic silver for Malysz!
Adam Malysz has come second in the large hill ski jump competition at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, jumping 137m and 133,5m in the two rounds.
Gold went to Swiss ski jumper Simon Ammann. Austrian Gregor Schlierenzauer took the bronze medal.
The silver medal awarded at Whistler, where the ski jumping competition is taking place, is the fourth Olympic medal in Malysz’s career and his second in Vancouver. He took home a silver and bronze from the Games in Salt Lake City in 2002.
Malysz’s medal is the twelveth ever awarded to Poland in Winter Olympic Games history.
Poland’s other ski jumpers also scored well. Kamil Stoch was in 14th place with jumps of 126 and 123.5 metres and Stefan Hula jumped 122.5 and 124 metres to come 19th. Krzysztof Burbot failed to qualify for the second series of jumps.
Adam Malysz’s silver, Saturday, jumped Poland into joint 10th place in the 2010 Winter Olympic medal table, with three silvers and one bronze.
Poland's four medal tally this year is already the best performance ever by Polish athletes in the Winter Olympics. Poland won two medals in 2006 and two in 2002. In 1972, Wojciech Fortuna trumped Malysz’s achievements by winning Poland’s only gold medal in the games, in the large hill ski jump. Poland also won two medals in 1960 and one in 1956. (as/pg)
