 Bella vs Polish Culture Site
« Thread Started on Nov 12, 2005, 4:07pm »

<Thanks Jaga, I am there already. I don't care whatever was the reason to go, I'm glad I made my way through, but what will happen to this old place, here? ANd most of all, what about old threads. It's hard and it sometimes might seem rude if we all stop checking this forum abruptly?>

That`s what Adam just wrote in Bella. Yes, what will happen to the old place?
Adam is loyal to places, but we should be loyal to friends too. I see that most people who used to be active in Bella moved here. So did I. Adam and Forza seem to be in two minds about both forums.

Let me share my modest plans with you.

I am going to post new things in this forum mainly. I think we can make it as active as the old one in Bella. The new editor of Polish Bella made this decision even easier for me. She didn`t go out to us although she has been in charge for a few weeks. In some way she totally ignored Polish site, not even "hello, good morning, cheers," nothing (ANI BE, ANI ME, ANI KUKURYKU). I won`t miss her in the same way she doesn`t miss me. Farewell, sweet Bella! ha ha ha
However, I will check Bella from time to time. It is rated high in Google so it is very likely that some new guys will post their problems there, like this woman of color, Yve, about her Polish boyfriend. Then I can occasionally reply in Bella too.
But my primary interest is here.

I want to hear what your plans are.

I'll participate in both sites and post mostly different messages in each site. Carl

Pawian, Carl,

wow - how nice posts! We really do not want to have any hard feelings towards Bella etc. I do not know anything about Ewa's plans, maybe she felt intimidated by the earlier host ;). Since she is not here in Bella forums yet - I and Nancy will try to make sure that anybody who asks questions there would got their answers.

We are not going to do any secrets from us leaving Bella. THere was a legitimate issue, I was not anymore in charge of Bella site - so people start asking questions. We were not in the control of anything in this board anymore. WE WERE SO LUCKY THAT WE HAD SUCH A NICE GROUPS OF PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH - SO THAT WE DID NOT NEED TO WORRY.... TO BAN ANYBODY FOR ANYTHING ;)

Nancy tried to explain it to Adam and I hope that he would join us here also, although we donot mind if he would also remain with Bella.

Of course you are more than welcome to check Bella (like we will do also)

Lets assume new Bella editor Ewa was busy writing something about... Weekend in Warsaw. Perhaps she will show up soon. I am wondering what Bella's place would look like if none of regulars write there anymore. Just a sudden death of Polish Culture it would be.
But seriously if this forum is to survive and develop some connection with Bella would have to be maintained or there will be no fresh blood coming and not many surprises wll ever happen here- I'm afraid. It will take goggle many years to get this forum into its top 10 and maybe it will never get there. Bella's advantage was that the forum was read by those lurking visitors, too. I would guess the "polish" posts were read often by those participating in all other forums.
And I totally understand Jaga and Nancy and some others perhaps who committed much energy, time, work to keep the amazing numbers at the Polish Culture. It is clear they do want now some control over the forum and don't want a new boss appointed from the above. I wouldn't too!
This is what Ewa says about herself in one of her new articles:
One of my first memories is of playing in the sand-pit with my brother in the back garden, in my Grandmothers house in Poland. I distinctly remember the smell of the wet soil with the sun bathing us in its late summer rays. I have many wonderful images and recollections of Poland. I have lived most of my life in England, but I have never felt any less Polish because of it. I hope to give you a taste of Poland's wealth of beauty, history and culture. Enjoy!
I guess time will show. I personally will probably stay here (at least for some time) as there are here already people who's posts I like reading.

Pawian, Forza

You both have made very good points in your posts (here, and also why unregistered people should be allowed to post).

I have been disappointed that the new Bella Polish editor, Ewa, has not yet come into the Bella forum at least to say hello - I do not understand that omission, especially since it is (was?) such an active forum. She also does not answer the emails that Jaga has sent her.

We would be friends with her if she would be friends with us ...

After a while, it seemed a little awkward to me that we were playing in her house without her being home. Personally, I don't want to control a forum, it would be like herding cats, anyway, with you guys ;)

We will just have to see what Ewa does. Sometimes it seems Bella editors give up before they really get started - there were a few that I noticed (for example, the latest Russian editor, who was also the Biology editor.)

Jaga, I speak my mind and what is on my thoughts, perhaps this is good, or, perhaps not so good.

I do agree with all, their needs and desires. For what is right or wrong, is only at the discretion of the individual.

Bella will survive, it will survive because it is there. As of this forum, it will survive as long as the members make it so. There are no guarantees in life, as non were given when we were born. But, we still live and will do so until time decides other wise.

My self as a person, when I turn to leave, I do not look back, just leave. It is best that way. Other wise, the poison of regret will eat at our minds (mine) and make life very difficult.

Within the same token, if I were to stay with Bella, then I would be divided in personal time and quality of my thinking.

There are only two answers in this world: Yes, or, no. The remainder is shear bunk.

But, to each is their own, they each know what is best, because each situation is only unique to their own.

Charles

Guys,

you do not need to worry about site versus forum issue. We had a very active forum in Delphi even before the site was being known. In the good times we had 5-7 thousands clicks at Polish Culture Site at BellaOnline per day. Now we have about one thousand. So, people are starting to find us.

Anyways, we are a nice group of people, hopefully our forum will become visible in google soon ;)

I too think that it is not the server that is important but the people who form the forum.
To Pawian: Adam is not loyal to servers, Adam is as loyal as he can be to people who cared to exchange thoughts with Adam, that's why Adam will check the old forum for any possible replies. And for any possible new threads coming. If time allows Adam, of course!
