I don't know if anyone remembers me.... it's been a few years. I can't remember the last time I logged in here.
I used to be around in the days of Nancy and Leslie from the UK.
I suppose the last time anyone heard from me, I was in high school. A life update is in order.... Since then, I went to college in the South, spent the spring of '10 studying abroad in Kraków on a scholarship from the Kosciuszko Foundation, and am currently waiting to hear back about a Fulbright Grant so that I can return to Poland for another year and carry out a research project. In the meantime, I'm currently in a limbo/purgatory of sorts. I'm working one dead end job I hate to pay the bills and every once in a while free lancing as a Polish language interpreter in courthouses around the state.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Tomek

Hi Tomek,
what was your nick? I think I remember you if we were discussing husaria with you! I hope that you would have a better job soon or you would hear back from Fulbright Grant. The job situation is difficult everywhere in the world. Lots of my family in Poland are unemployed (not my brothers, but some of my cousins), I have a hard time to find a job also.
where are you now?

Hussar was actually always my nick. I even had it when these forums were on the BellaOnline system, if I'm not mistaken.
The dead end job is related to applying for a Fulbright. As soon as you mention to a potential employer that you may leave them for a year, the interview doesn't last much longer. I applied in October for the Fulbright and have to wait until April or May for the final decision.
I'm currently in Connecticut.

Hi Hussar,
yes, of course I remember you! How do you survive the winter? Maybe you can take some classes before you would get reply from Fullbright? Or at least, you would have more time to visit us!
welcome back!

I see you're back in New Britain. Haven't been there myself for about a year and a half. Don't think it's changed much. Good luck on your Fulbright. At my age I can surely say that I understand working in a hateful job. And that is what it is. A job. Not a occupation or a profession. Just a job. Where about down south were you? I have lived in North Carolina and Tennessee. To this day I still love the Carolinas. See you on this forum.

Welcome back Tomek Of course we remember you As a person, I am sorry of the troubles in the work market, but happy for you with the new opportunity of research in Poland. Ours and yours good friend Leslie succumbed to a medical situation and is no longer with us, he is missed. In as much for difficulties with potential employers with disclosure of your plans. It is a situation that is to you to decide for. In this matter, it is a situation that must be viewed in reality with most any potential employment opportunity. In reality, very few people will stay at their work for a life time. In reality, the potential employers knows and understands this standing reality. What each side is looking for is what is best for each. In the manner of reality, the potential employee is in competition to various numbers of other work position seekers. Most are most likely equally qualified for the position offered, it is then to the interviewer to determine the best manner of cutting the numbers down to usually the workable number of three, as potential candidates for the position offered. Then from the above, it is just a determination of which potential candidate will be a best fit into the firms needs and compatibility of company goals and requirements. J.J. would be quite proficient in describing this process. Karl
