I remember some time past, you had mentioned of owning a book store, and as such, are very much aware of publishing rights and copy right laws. I had not put it together until you mentioned to Kai of some German firmen ownership of some American publishing houses. then bingo goes the memory. I thought this sounded familiar from some where.
Yes, I think it was some time in the mid and late 90's that the German Firm of Bertelsmann did buy out Bantam, Double Day and Dell books. I am not sure at this moment, but, believe also of the Magazine firms of Mc Call, Family Circle and Parents. Perhaps more, but, I am not sure at this time.
I think at the time, it was a bit of greed mixed with the thought of slicing a fat hog for nothing. I think perhaps though, it was a costly gamble like the purchase of A&P Food chain by The Tengelmann Grupp. They came very close to losing their shirts over that purchase.
