Carl will be missed. His postings were so wide ranging I would call them eclectic, and they seem to have reflected a wide ranging mind and field of interests.
I hope the family posts a thorough obituary on Carl. I can only guess at the myriad interests and activites he engaged in outside of this forum in his lifetime and would like to know more about him.

Dear Esteemed Forum Members,
I am Carl Zimmerman's daughter, Pamela. Jaga and Eric have been very kind to correspond with me over the past few weeks. Your forum and its community were of tremendous importance to my father. He spoke of you and your shared interests with great affection. I know that he was an active member here, and that he loved spending time in your virtual world.
We buried my dad today; there's an obit in today's NY Times. Looking back, I believe that you all played a very crucial role in keeping my dad informed, challenged, and engaged -- and I will always be grateful.
Take good care of yourselves.

Pamela,
Carl is in the better world now. He is not in pain anymore. thank you so much for the information. Here is what I found in Carl's obituary:
ZIMMERMAN--Carl, on February 4, 2013 in Teaneck, NJ. A brilliant writer and scientist, he embraced all cultures. He leaves behind his loving wife, Frances, son Robert (Mariela) of Prague, daughter Pamela (Gerald D. Cohen) of New York, and granddaughter Amy.

Wow, that is a very short summary of a life, but it seems to catch the essence and the most important (family) side. In death he leaves me as he did in life, wishing I knew him much better. Pamela, Thanks for sharing. Kai

Dear Pamela
I realize you are experiencing some very trying and difficult times with the lose of your father. With your lose, it was very good of you to inform all that you could to your fathers friends here on this forum.
Your father was a very strong personality and made many lasting friends here on the forum..
Thank you for all you have done, and God Bless...

Dear friends and Pamela,
I can't add much to the words Jaga, Karl, Eric, Ron (Kaima) and John. These words describe my feelings too. And Pamela, how great and good that you came to our Forum, to come into your fathers world. I can say this, I felt connected to Carl in his ecclecticism, his broad interest, his tolerance and the subjects he was interested in. We shared a mixed background, and us people of mixed background often are interested in more cultures than one, because our bloodlines had ancesters from different countries. I could even follow Carl's interest in Albania, due to his Albanian roots. Albania isn't well known in Western-Europe or the USA, and that is why it is good he gave attention to it. I know that there is a large Albanian community in the USA, and Albanians (like Poles) are immigrant people, and they seem to live everywhere.
I am sure Carl would have loved these Albanian singers.
Cheers, Pieter
