Prussia was an old Baltic province conquered and destroyed by Teutonic knights with a help of Polish Kingdom. Many of the areas of Prussia are in Poland. These interesting Prussian babas were found during middle ages. Their function is unknown although there are some theories: are they not cute? pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby_pruskie

It's a very interesting discovery. I wonder what they were used for... and why men are called "baba." It's also very interesting that the only two languages on Wikipedia with this article are in Polish and Russian, though the Polish article seems to be more detailed.

Eric,
yes, I was also surprised that they have info about it in Russian since this region has rather Baltic/German heritage. It was called "baba" since in the first sight it looks like woman figure, but then.... it is a warrior.

Karl, it always makes me good to realize that there was a culture in the area of Poland and Europe where my ancestors lived. Maybe we have common great-great grandparents.
I am glad they find more and more sites

For in those early days, with the vikings and such tribes were to move about with trade and wars. For then, there was not the border lands of present day countries, just wild forest and people living in groups for their protection and survival. Karl
