Forza, Pieter are Europeans familiar with tequilla?I first heard about it in Texas Yes, tequilla is a trendy drink under students, youth (highschool parties and discotheques), young professionals, older people who wnet to Southern-America as sailors, tourists or for their job. In my opinion it is a dangerous very strong drink which knocked many people out here and abroad. For me it is like strong cocktails, you have to watch out. And don't drink form the bottom, because of the larve or the caterpillar. I don't like tequilla, because it is for me like Strohrum ( www.stroh.at/index_lang.php?ln=en ), a real killer. Nowadays I prefer drinking beer, Duch (Alfa, Hertog jan, Grolsch, Amstel, Heineken, Oranjeboom, Bavaria, Brand and de Leeuw), Belgian (Palm, Hoegaarden White beer, Stella Artois, Jupiler, Duvel -very strong and delicious-) and Danish (Carlsberg and Turborg). Heineken is not the best Duch beer, to watery, I prefer Grolsch or Oranjeboom (many pubs in Arnhem have Oranjeboom). When I a, on vacation I prefer to drink the local beer, In Calfornia I drank Chicago (American) beer, and in Germany I drank German (Reinheitsgebot) beer. In England I drank Bristol or Guinness beer. I love Guinness because of it's darkness, heavyness and strong taste, in Prague I drank it in an Irish pub which had television screens with Rugby matches and bakcpacker tourists. If I could find Polish or Czech beer here I would drink it, bacause I love ?ywiec, but now it is a Heineken brewery I would prefer an independant Polish brewery. Pieter

Now this is a subject that comes to heart. Red wine - a good Merlot or French Rhone Preference on the rhone. White wine I like a Johanesberg reisling. Canadian whisky - Black Velvet Scotch - J&B Irish whisky - Jamiesons Vodka - Zubrowka if and when I can find it. Beer, welll you know I am a former Marine. To us there is no such thing as bad beer. It just is in varying stages of goodness !!!!!

Justjohn,
Ah a Marine, I come from a Duch town where a lot of Duch Marines come from. Classmates of mine became Marines. You are of the age that you experianced Vietnam. Vietnam veteran? There is nothing wrong with your alcoholic taste. Yes, Jamiesons is good! I am not that choosy on beer either, but when I can choose in the supermarket I pick the Grolsch swing-top bottles instaid of the Heineken bottles.

Is that the "white beer" from Belgium, Hoegarden (or something like that)? I've a friend in Waterloo who told me about it, we have a local restaurant that has it on the menu, as well as the local "international beer" store a few blocks away from my house (how convenient) . If so, I like it for a change as well. Quite different from anything else I've tried. I'm not familiar with white beer from Belgium, but what I was referring to was Bavarian Weissbier, which is made from wheat. It has a different taste from regular beer, a little more delicate. I love it! A liquor store that has a large international beer and microbrew section would probably have a brand or two of Weissbier.

I'll look for the Weissbier when I'm "back on my feet": I'm betting the store close by my house will have it. I'm always interested in a strong recommendation when it comes to piwo!

Thank you JustJohn for your answer, was it a tough region in Vietnam, did you fight North Vietnamese forces or Vietcong, or both? I havew absolutely know knowledge of teh Vietnam war, and the geopgraphy of Vietnam. I only know the movies and the series Tour on Duty. I know that it was hard for some veterans to come home, and that some of them were badly hurt (invalid). How were you and your mates when you came back. Tell me about Vietnam and afterwards. Was it easy for ya to integrate in the Civilian life when you got back?

I saw a documentry during the last presidential campaign, and in that there were old Veterans who had been prisoners of war of the North Vietnamese. They hated Jane Fonda and John Kerry, because of their anti-Vietnam activism, and because Jane Fonda visited the North-Vietnamese.

Semper Fi marine! God Bless you and your comrades who fought and gave their all in Vietnam. I will never forgive Jane Fonda, and all others in this country, who bad mouthed and spat upon our troops on their return from that war. Most people in the US do not realize the magnitude of 58,000 dead troops, I didn't until I visited the Wall in Washington DC, it really grabbed me!
Regards, Johnny M.

Weiss-bier = wheat beer; a beer made from wheat rather than malted barley; usually thought of as a summer beer; sometimes flavored with lemon or other light fruits / spices. I do love this...and as a matter of fact drank a very good, local one in Poland last summer; wish I could remember the name; as well as the restaurant where we ate Sam Adams Brewery in Boston puts out a very good weiss-bier quite contrary to custom for the Christmas holiday season. I bought the Sam Adams holiday pack before Thanksgiving for guests. This weiss-bier is very good...but I still think of this beer as a summer one.

Garden Moma, ;DSam Adams is a true patriot to this day as long as the brewery is open. ;D Had the wheat beer. It is good. I am an old fashioned type of guy so my favorite beer would be 'Miller High Life' which I understand is not an American brewery anymore. Johnny M, I remember when I came home from the war. Not only spat upon but rocks thrown at me. I can't look on the wall for very long. Break down to easily. Can't function for a while. Semper Fi brother

I didn't know Sam Adams made Weissbier, and it is kind of funny that it's in a holiday pack, since as you said, it's a summer beer. But I love it and wouldn't turn it down if someone offered it to me on a cold day like today!

I am not really a drinker. I like a nice glass of wine with my meal. (merlot, shiraz.chardonnay), gin and tonics or margaritas frozen depending the mood and sometimes in the summer only a good cold one (since I don't drink it doesn't matter the brand a beer) If I choose to spoil myself I will go buy a 6pak of Spaten. Ocassionally I will revert to scotch and must not forget Baileys Irish cream.

1. Bailey's 2. White semi-dry Moldovan wine 3. Martini
We've got tequila at home with TWO worms inside and Chinese vodka with TWO lizards in the bottle - an attraction for my children to look at. We never touch it.

Wow... in the early '90's, i traveled to Los Angeles on business frequently. There was a tequila with two worms inside popular there then: "dos gusanos" which I think was supposed to mean "two worms", but I don't know Spanish at all.
