John,
I like it when they take good care of the elderly, our elderly. They built our country from scratch after the war, during the we call 'Wederopbouw jaren' (reconstruction years or repair years), when the country was rebuilt from ruins, old outdated industries and stolen and looted property (taken to Germany between 1940 and 1945) These elderly worked hard to make the country prosperous, modern and well financed. They deserve good care, attention, kindness, solidarity, affection and friendship of all generations. They are the grandparents and great grandparents of our children, teenagers and adolescents. So it is good when there are excellent nursing homes, service flats, private homes with facilities.
I love it when I see that elderly couples or singles are enjoying their lives, often the last fase (years) of their lives. So when they have a community, family attention or the warmth and cosyness of a social group of elderly people that is great. In the Netherlands some nursing homes are built next to appartments of senoir people who stil live independent. They often have a little shops and a barber in a nursing home, and next to that a shopping mall nearby. They built nursing homes near shopping centre's and malls. I don't know which ' fake village they mean in the photograph', maybe they mean 'Het Dorp' (the village) in Arnhem. The Village however is a living community for people with severe disabilities and handicaps. It exists now for 50 years in Arnhem. It is a safe environment for them where they get care and can live independently:
Cheers, Pieter
