An extremely deplorable situation of such destruction of a once fine city, and for no good reason. Aleppo was {was} a city of diversity not quite Paris, but most all that Paris would offer. The old city or Walled city was the original city of bible times. Whilst the new was a mix of very modern shops and centres with other districts with street shops and market squares for the daily pick of fresh vegetables, meats and what ever spices that could be thought of.
Of the two cities, Aleppo was the most European whilst Damascus the more Arabic.
The above matters little at present, for both have been thrashed by this on going civil war that seems to be never ending.
But, as depicted, it is the civilian people that suffer the sins of the fighters. For they are caught in between in that living hell simply trying to survive from day to day. Whilst thusly being used for what ever as shields that are ignored by Government forces. For those civilians know and understand that they as shields for the fighters, are forfit and pay the price. For this is the only manner available for the government forces to hit the opposition in response to the enemy fighters manner of shoot and scoot into a crowd.

Yes Karl, the civilians are caught inbetween the fighting parties. It is the same old song and result of every armed conflict in human populated area's. Wars and civil wars hit civilians hard. Unfortunately many of these people were living normal lives before the conflict. They had jobs, homes, lived in a beautiful historic city and their children went to school or studied. Many of these civilians simply did not take part in the protests, nor in suppressing them. They were Sunni-Muslim, Allawites, Christian, Druze, Armenian, Kurd and etc. They were and are stuck in a war which isn't theirs. That is the tragedy of this conflict. Those fathers, mothers, children en grandparents who had normal lives, which are destroyed now. They have no future in that disturbed and wounded land now.
