100 times. It makes genealogical research extra fun!
I am so confused, maybe someone who understands Polish Historical Geography can help me. I am interested in the village Chmielowa, which is in the region of Czernelica in the district of Hordenko and also called Galicia from the time period 1880-1939 First of all, the Stanisławów Voivodeship, what Voivodeship was it called before it was called Stanisławów? How can Hordenko and Stanisławów be seperate district on one map and not the other? What is the difference between Galicia and Silesia, upper and lower?

Silesia is a region of South-Western Poland, Upper Silesia contains Katowice, Lower Silesia Wroclaw (western part). Galicia contained area east from Silesia which belonged to Austria during partitions until 1918. Stanislawow belonged to Poland before WW II but it looks that the village Chmielowa is probably in Ukraine right now. +++Voivodeship was it called before it was called Stanisławów?+++ Stanislawow is a city, its region was called Voivodeship - Voivodeship is like a state or county 100 times.
