Amongst the victims were an American father and his teenage sonYesterday afternoon the 11 year old American boy Brodie Copeland, as well as his father Sean Copeland (51), were killed during the terrorist attack in Nice, France. This photo from Brodie was sent yesterday to the USA from the French Riviera. Brodie Copeland in the Mediterranean Sea. Do you see the life in the look of this lovely American boy and how he looks in the lens of probably his fathers photo camera or cell phone? A look of understanding, trust, confidence and a relationship between a father and a son. I (Pieter) remember looking at my dad like that when I had his age. They were from the Austin area and were vacationing with other family members, according to relatives. Hill Country Baseball, an Austin-area Little League where the boy played, also mourned their deaths on its Facebook page. " Nobody deserves this type of fate, especially not such a wonderful family," a memorial passage stated. " You are in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. Rest in peace, Brodie and Sean, you will be remembered by many." Sean Copeland, (51), and Brodie Copeland (11) in better times.A great image of a proud dad and his son, whom he loves very muchThe Copeland family. Sean Copeland’s Facebook profile picture. (Facebook/Sean Copeland)Sean Copeland and his wife. Brodie Copeland and Sean Copeland in an epic Father son photo. The life this family lived for years wasn't in vain. It was worth living it. I am sorry and sad for the mother who will have to continue living without her husband and son. I hope that she is surrounded by family, friends, her church community, colleages and people who pray for her and Brodie and Sean. Brodie didn't have a chance to live a long life unfortunately. But I hope that he and his father had a wonderful holiday in Southern-France before this tragedy. Maybe they saw Paris and enjoyed the Mediterranean Sea. Sean has lived a life of 51 years. It is sad that he didn't had the chance to continue living, doing his job, see his son grow up and live together with his wife until they are old and can enjoy retirement. The same counts for the other French families that were hit by this tragedies. Their lives were good and they probably enjoyed life, before this mental ill individual killed them. In my opinion mass murderers and thus terrorists are mental ill people, or people with a total lack of understanding of the purpose of life and the preciousness and holyness of life. I hope that we as the West manage to find means, methods and tactics and strategies to fight this kind of terrorism and to find the purpetrators before they commit their terrible and gruesome acts. Cheers, Pieter

The truck careered for hundreds of metres along the famed Promenade des Anglais seafront, slamming into spectators, among them children, who were watching the fireworks, listening to an orchestra or strolling above the beach towards the grand, century-old Hotel Negresco.
Dawn broke on Friday with pavements smeared with dried blood. Smashed children's strollers, an uneaten baguette and other debris were strewn about the promenade. Small areas were screened off and what appeared to be bodies covered in blankets were visible through the gaps.

Pieter
Excellent coverage of this very extremely horrific situation. It is difficult to even emagine what would motivate such a person as this truck operator to committe such a devastating act of such murder of innocent people.
It is good the police shot this man dead for not his deeds, but to prevent further harm to be committed to others.
Thank you for your coverage

They had no other option, because the killer had several arms in his truck and he could have made many more victims if he had escaped from the cops. He was a ticking timebomb. www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-36811033I hope that the children which were thrown over fences by their parents survived and weren't hurt seriously. It is terible that so many children were killed and wounded. I heard some woman speaking in her eye witness report that she saw a body of a baby on the street with a crushed head. This is so terrible, sickening, sad, inhumane, unethical and simply very, very bad, unfortunate, tragic, monstrious and unnecessary. These people should be alive, and the attacker should have considered the lives he took and his own sould, mind and spirit. Taking the lives of innocent human beings is one of the worst things in the world. And killing little children is simply very, very sad and bad.
