Here is how we can detect whether what is showed to us is a fake news or not: www.mediaite.com/online/former-cia-deception-expert-tells-us-five-ways-to-detect-fake-news/To help readers avoid being roped in, we have identified five key clues—elements that characterize almost every fake news story—that make spotting fictitious content relatively simple: 1. Crazy claims. We’ve been told for years that the best way to spot a con artist is to remember that if the outcome he promises is too good to be true, it probably is. The same concept is applicable here: If a “news” story is too crazy to be true, it probably is. 2. Incredulous introduction. Watch out for phrases in the top of the story that acknowledge the incredible, unbelievable nature of what’s coming. Examples are “As preposterous as it might appear,” or “Unimaginable as it may seem.” 3. Audacious repetition. Consider this scenario: Your coworker walks into your office with a stunned look on his face and says, “Are you ready for this? Santa Claus is sick!” Your natural response is to roll your eyes and say something like, “Go away, I don’t have time for this.” But then he looks at you with a troubled expression on his face and says, “No, I mean it, Santa’s really sick.” The moment he says that, he has suddenly captured your attention, and you find yourself asking something like, “What do you mean, Santa Claus is sick?” At that point, without realizing it, you’ve begun the process of buying into the fake story. You’re now asking a question about it, whereas just a moment earlier, you were telling the guy to get out, because you were too busy for this nonsense. Suddenly it matters in your life, because while Santa is fictitious to you, he’s not fictitious to your kids—it has some relevance to you. Writers of fake news stories have learned the value of leveraging the psychology of repetition—the more something is repeated, the more believable it becomes. Consider how Madison Avenue advertising works: The magic number is three. If the consumer receives the message three times, research has shown that he may not buy the product immediately, but the door has been opened to his willingness to at least consider buying it. 4. Hyper hyperbole. Over-the-top statements of degree permeate the story. The news isn’t just “significant,” it’s “absolutely astounding.” Similarly, if the story has to do with some misfortune, it’s not just “serious” or “bad,” it’s “the worst thing we have ever seen.” 5. Validation void. Invariably, fake news lacks substance in terms of sourcing—the sources tend to be vague and unidentifiable. At the same time, there tends to be no actionable information in the story, in the sense that there’s nowhere within reason to go to attempt to validate it. What makes the immediate spotting of fake news so critical is that its lucrative nature encourages viral reporting on it. Other media outlets, driven by the profits generated by thousands or millions of page views, start to pick up on it. Since there is no substance to the story, there’s no value to add, so it’s a simple matter of reporting what has been reported. The exponential repetition makes the story exponentially more believable, and before you know it, people are sending get well cards to Santa.

Ron Paul: The War On "Fake News" Is A War On Free Speechby Tyler Durden Dec 13, 2016 11:30 AM Authored by Ron Paul via The Ron Paul Institute for Peace & Prosperity,A major threat to liberty is the assault on the right to discuss political issues, seek out alternative information sources, and promote dissenting ideas and causes such as non-interventionism in foreign and domestic affairs. If this ongoing assault on free speech succeeds, then all of our liberties are endangered. One of the most common assaults on the First Amendment is the attempt to force public policy organizations to disclose their donors. Regardless of the intent of these laws, the effect is to subject supporters of controversial causes to harassment, or worse. This harassment makes other potential donors afraid to support organizations opposing a popular war or defending the rights of an unpopular group. Many free speech opponents support laws and regulations forbidding activist or educational organizations from distributing factual information regarding a candidate’s positions for several months before an election. The ban would apply to communications that do not endorse or oppose any candidate. These laws would result in the only sources of information on the candidate’s views being the campaigns and the media. Recently the Federal Election Commission (FEC) rejected a proposal to add language exempting books, movies, and streaming videos from its regulations. The majority of FEC commissioners apparently believe they should have the power, for example, to ban Oliver Stone’s biography of Edward Snowden, since it was released two months before the election and features clips of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump discussing Snowden. The latest, and potentially most dangerous, threat to the First Amendment is the war on “fake news.” Those leading the war are using a few “viral” Internet hoaxes to justify increased government regulation — and even outright censorship — of Internet news sites. Some popular websites, such as Facebook, are not waiting for the government to force them to crack down on fake news. Those calling for bans on “fake news” are not just trying to censor easily-disproved Internet hoaxes. They are working to create a government-sanctioned "gatekeeper" (to use Hillary Clinton’s infamous phrase) with the power to censor any news or opinion displeasing to the political establishment. None of those wringing their hands over fake news have expressed any concern over the fake news stories that helped lead to the Iraq War. Those fake news stories led to the destabilizing of the Middle East, the rise of ISIS, and the deaths of millions. The war on “fake news” has taken a chilling turn with efforts to label news and opinion sites of alternative news sources as peddlers of Russian propaganda. The main targets are critics of US interventionist foreign policy, proponents of a gold standard, critics of the US government’s skyrocketing debt, and even those working to end police militarization. All have been smeared as anti-American agents of Russia. Just last week, Congress passed legislation creating a special committee, composed of key federal agencies, to counter foreign interference in US elections. There have also been calls for congressional investigations into Russian influence on the elections. Can anyone doubt that the goal of this is to discredit and silence those who question the mainstream media’s pro-welfare/warfare state propaganda? The attempts to ban “fake news;” smear antiwar, anti-Federal Reserve, and other pro-liberty movements as Russian agents; and stop independent organizations from discussing a politician’s record before an election are all parts of an ongoing war on the First Amendment. All Americans, no matter their political persuasion, have a stake in defeating these efforts to limit free speech.

Pro-Hillary Dark Forces Plot Anti-Trump Coup
Stephen Lendman 12-13-16 It shouldn’t surprise. Since the deplorable Clinton co-presidency, America has been on a slippery slope toward full-blown tyranny - notably post-the-9/11 mother of all false flags.
It was followed by an array of police state laws, new ones recently enacted, flagrant constitutional violations, media scoundrels silent on an unprecedented abuse of power.
McCarthyism is back on steroids. Truth-telling is now considered fake news and/or pro-Russian. We’re perilously close to criminalizing content or advocacy for anything opposing America’s deplorable agenda, its imperial wars, its high crimes against humanity at home and abroad.
Perhaps I and others like me are considered Kremlin agents for supporting Putin’s anti-war, anti-imperial, anti-uni-polarity agenda, a leader supporting rule of law principles and mutual cooperation among all nations.
It’s polar opposite how America operates, a rogue state like no others earlier, threatening humanity’s survival like never before, a terrifying reality too few people realize.
Now there’s a plot afoot to deny Trump his electoral triumph - the Clintons, their supporters and other dark forces behind it, their goal to turn America into an illegitimate putschist state like Nazi-run Ukraine, installed by Obama.
According to Politico, Hillary’s top political advisor, John Podesta, wants an intelligence briefing on phony charges of Russian election hacking given Electoral College members before they vote on December 19. In a Monday statement, he said:
“Electors have a solemn responsibility under the Constitution…(O)ur campaign decried the interference of Russia in our campaign and its evident goal of hurting our campaign to aid Donald Trump.”
“Despite our protestations, this matter did not receive the attention it deserved by the media in the campaign. We now know that the CIA has determined Russia's interference in our elections was for the purpose of electing Donald Trump. This should distress every American.”
Reliable independent sources debunked the fabricated allegation. Not a shred of evidence supports it. None exists. Even the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) refuses to endorse it “because of a lack of conclusive evidence.” So does the FBI for the same reason.
In November congressional testimony, DNI head James Clapper said US intelligence agencies lack evidence pointing to Russian US election hacking.
Can any thinking person believe Russia cost Hillary the election? It defies logic. It’s an absurdity on its face, a disgraceful Big Lie and an affront to the sensibility of everyone.
Parties trying to reverse November’s electoral result should face sedition or treason charges. Their attempt confirms America’s deplorable state more than ever.
The nation was never a democracy from inception. Now it’s a fascist police state, waging permanent war on humanity, exceeding anything before in world history - rule of law principles out-the-window entirely.

Western media lies about Syria exposed (Canadian journalist Eva Bartlett)

Dear John,
Secretly and or silently many people in Europe, the USA, Canada and other country have some sympathies for the Syrian Baath regime, the Russian support for the Syrians and even Hezbollah and Iran? Why, because many Europeans dislike the Sunni Muslim Saoudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Al Qaida, Islamic State, Al Nusra Front, the Chechen islamic (Salafist/Wahabist), Jihadist Sunni Muslim islamist cells inside Europe (from Al Qaida, ISIS and other organisations), Hamas (which is Sunni Muslim and linked to the Sunni Muslim brotherhood), Islamic Jihad and other extremist islamist organisations with links to the Sunni Muslim world.
The Sunni Arab countries and Israel see Iran, the Lebanese Shia Hezbollah and the Houthi insurgency in Yemen as a greater concern than the Syrian government (which is rather weak in itself), Islamic State (Daesh), Al Qaida, Hamas, Islamic Jihad or the Muslim brotherhood. Ofcourse nothing in the Middle East, Berber and Arabised Berber North-Africa, the Muslim black countries of Africa, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Chechenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kirgisia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Muslim area's of India, Indonesia and other Muslim countries or nations with large Muslim minorities (like the West-European nations) is black and white. We face extremist movements and streams from both Sunni and Shia Islam, but also Arab Nationalism, Turkish Nationalism, Kurd Nationalism, extreme forms of Jewish nationalism (the far right Yesha council of Westbank -Samaria and Judea-, hard core Jewish settlers which are armed to the teeth and who are like the Zealots in 1st century Second Temple Judaism -6 CE-73 CE -) (Or the far right ultra-nationalist branch of Zionism, the National religious fraction) and ultra left movements like Dev Sol ( DHKP-C), the PKK, TAK, the PFLP (the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine). Ofcourse in the Arab world the various branches of the Baath Party (the Syrian Assad branch and the Iraq Sadam Hussein branch; the first one mainly supported by Allawite, Christian, Druze and other Syrians, but also Sunni Muslim Syrian Baath party members, the latter Iraqi fraction is mainly supported by Sunni Muslim Iraqi Arabs, and clearly anti-Shia, anti-Israel, anti-Western and has close links with Al Qaida in Iraq and ISIS/Daesh).
To complicate the matter the Sunni Muslim Palestinian Hamas and Islamic Jihad were supported by the Shia Muslim Islamic Republic of Iran, Hezbollah and the Syrian Baath regime (which was dominated by Syrian Allawite Muslim, a Shia sect within Islam). Like earlier wars in Europe, sectarian, religious, ethnic, cultural, political lines cross eachother and go over the border of the dividing lines due to geopolitical, regional, tactical, strategic, political, power, financial, economical and military interests.
John, this report of the Canadian journalist Eva Bartlett is excellent and very true.
Cheers, Pieter

Dear friends, In my opinion the only solution to the region would be less extreme, less sectarian and less imperialistic if more moderate, and reasonable political powers would gain more influence in the Middle east. A problem is that global powers like the USA, Russia, Great-Britain, France, Israel, Turkey, Saoudi Arabia and Iran are fighting open and secret wars over there with all means to their possession. They use sectarian conflicts, political divisions and ethnic conflicts in their advantage. With arms and armies (armed forces, airforces and navies), armed militia linked to the various fractions and political parties in the region, with funds and subsidies, with lobby groups, with corporate interests (Business deals, arms sails, petrol/oil/gas trade), modern technology, diplomacy, bilateral and multilateral negotiations, alliances, regional structures, cultural and religious ties, ethnic connections, social networks, tribes, clans and peoples, the nuclear option (threatening with a nuclear war), biological weapons (anthrax, poison gas, chlorine, Nerve agent and etc.) and all kind of ideologies from fascist, Neo-Nazi (the Baath party and the Syrian social nationalist party have fascist/nazi elements), to Marxist-Leninist, Stalinist and Arab forms of totalitarian socialism. Fact is that all the Arab nations have a heritage of despotic, authoritarian and totalitarian rule. Joris Luyendijk (born 30 December 1971) is a Dutch non-fiction author, news correspondent, and talk show host.In People Like Us, Luyendijk tells the story of his five years as a correspondent in the Middle East. He chronicles first-hand experiences of dictatorship, occupation, terror, and war. His stories cast light on a number of major crises, from the Iraq War to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, along with less-reported issues such as underage orphan trash-collectors in Cairo. The more he witnessed, the less he understood, and he became increasingly aware of the yawning gap between what he saw on the ground and what was later reported in the media. I am sometimes ironical or weary of people who are one sided Pro-Palestinian on one side and one sided Pro-Israel on the other side. I simply reject all stereotypes, xenophobia, racism, anti-semitism, anti-Western attitudes in the Third World and inside the West itself by the far left, extreme right and Islamist extremists. In that sense I am free to look critical towards my own government, the Dutch media and press in particular and the larger Western press in general, and to look critical at the Syrian situation, the parties who are involved in the regional tension and conflict; the Syrian government, Hezbollah, Iran, the Iraqi, Afghan and other Shia Militia fighting on the Syrian governement side, the Free Syrian army, the Islamic Front, Islamic State (Daesh), the Al Nusra Front, the Turkmen militia, the Syrian Kurds, the Druze, and Israel in the Golan Heights and it's heritage in the Lebanese civil war and the Westbank and Gaza. We have to look fair and critical to all sides and report honestly and fairly. Good research journalism, the help of local intelligentsia, photo journalists and cameramen (Camjo's and camera teams of chanals like Vice news and others), diplomats, human rights organisations, the United Nations and other people. Wars and civil wars don't solve anything, but sometimes they happen or are needed in the case that moderate fractions must defeat dangerous and destructive extremists, fanatics and psychopathic ideologies and ideologues. Like you had German and Austrian resistance during the Nazi era and Polish, Czech and Sovjet dissidents and Refusniks during the Sovjet communist era (before, during and after Stalinism in the time that Communism ruled large parts of central and Eastern Europe between 1918 and 1990). Cheers, Pieter

It would appear we have strayed away from the original title of fake News, but then, this is a natural attribute of maturity of a subject.. My self must confess to a priority of agreement with the replies that Pieter has presented, perhaps we are too much made of the same stuff as products of the low lands that are of the North Sea. Whilst though, some of us are divided upon loyalties between pro-Israli/pro-Palestine/pro-Syrian or for that matter, Pro-Russian or of the opposite camp of anti-all. If we were all cut from the same cloth, our poor world would be very messed up. I must confess to not provide the same weight to American news releases as perhaps other off shore news agencies, for the reason this particular brand of goods is heavily biased to being weighted in favour of currant American foreign policy that makes accurate information being disseminate by those news media suspect. Being of certain bias is also a personal reaction base upon prior experience and old knowledge. This applies to my self in the interest of Syria and Israel. But with this, is the knowledge that both are not perfect with worn halos about their respective heads, but then, we are dealing with people, and this is what our world is composed of for the reason of people. In the manner of a resolution to the currant conflict in the Gulf states, it would be good if all foreign presence simply get their butts out of the region so as to stop the flow of weapons and let the pot cool down to at least a resenable simmer. The Americans have made a mess out of this with their inflow of weapons that are used by both sides of the terriost flagge and with their various wars, have removed the safe guards of nasty dictators that kept the region inline. Now those safe guards are dead, the safty valves removed and with this, the region is a shambles. As with the above is not enough, we then have the Saudis with their wish to export their brand of Isam into not just this region but into Europe. www.dw.com/en/who-finances-isis/a-17720149Karl

John, I don't understand a lack of concern for human beings in Syria. referring to women in Sweden. Swedish women have paid maternal leave and they have better access to better jobs than in the US. Also the healthcare is better for young women than here in the US, unless you would like Swedish women in age 65+ to come to the US.... then they could have medicare. But, no I just checked, the elderly have a very good treatment in Sweden, so they also would not come: Elderly care: How countries rank Sweden, Norway and Germany headed the list The UK was rated 13th, one place behind Ireland The other nations in the top 10 were the Netherlands, Canada, Switzerland, New Zealand, USA, Iceland and Japan Afghanistan, Tanzania and Pakistan ranked lowest Source: Global AgeWatch Index

Friends - please be careful Yesterday I went to a Christmas party. I had a few beers, followed by a few cocktails, followed by a few shots.... I still had the sense to know that I was over the limit. That's when I decided to do what I have never done before: I took a cab home. Sure enough, there was a police road block on the way home, and since it was a cab, they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident. This was both a great relief and a surprise because I had never driven a cab before. I don't even know where I got it from, and now that it is in my garage, I don't know what to do with it.....

I can't imagine why any Swede would want to move from Sweden to the United States... except, perhaps, for the better climate in the southern states compared to northern Europe. Otherwise, Swedish citizens enjoy social benefits that Americans can't even begin to dream about. In America, even essentials such as healthcare are reserved as financial privileges for those who can afford it, whereas in Sweden there's a minimum bar on the standard of living that is very difficult to fall under. People are given equality for the essentials of life, and what they do beyond that is their own business. But no one in Sweden goes without access to healthcare, no one has to worry about becoming unemployed or homeless due to illness, no one has to think how they're going to finance the education of their children...

Eric I understand the flavour of your question as to why a Swede would indeed give up life in Sweden to relocate in the States. Most do not. But with people, goes hand in hand, the complex of life. There would be a multitude of reasons such as an example of: Family, work transfer and so on. Yes, Sweden does have the perks that make life better, but these perks cost, and working people pay that cost. In return is very well known as to returns for all that is priority. This goes as well in Norway and Denmark {also my country by duel citizen ship}. The Swedes enjoy to shop for Alcohol in Copenhagen in as well to enjoy the good food that is abundant in both the home and restaurant. The good life in both Scandia states {Norway/Sweden and Denmark} do not come free, for the cost of living is very dear, and very well taxed. Americans would not support such a system, but it works well in the Scandia states. My self, I do not pay taxes in Denmark, for my entire income is from German Government salary, in as well as my personal medical and benefits. At time of my entering service, my civil service appointment at that time {1967} was under a different classification that no longer exist. Whilst working in your country, my self wondered of many things, one was of course the lack of state provided medical as you have fore mentioned. The other, is the work ethics of many Americans, they seem to enjoy to work their holiday time given to them as a perk by their respective employers. They for the most part, seem earn less but produce more. Some time in past, your self had outlined your personal experience with over expensive health care if used. I was very very appalled with your plight and description of our personal experience. My reaction was of both sympathy and feelings of discouragement of the American system of disrespect for the suffering and medical disrespect of those with wages not commensurate with cost. Karl

Karl and all, I just saw a paranoid conspiracy theory mixing the Pope, global warming initiative in Paris, Israel/Palestine, Obama being antichrist and Donald danger of conspiracy against him being elected a president - and this video was already watched by 0.5 mln people who would tell you to go back to Christ:
Is a Scary Prophecy Written in 1907 About Obama Coming True 5 Days Before Trump Inauguration?
Published on Jan 4, 2017 In 1907, a book was published called "Lord of the World." This book is about the a U.S. Senator named Julian Felsenburgh, who quickly ascends to become "President of the World." Felsenburgh has unusual parallels with Obama including that they are both U.S. Senators, both charismatic speakers, and both have visited Paris for major conventions. Felsenburgh visited Paris and presided over a peace treaty as Europe spiraled into chaos. There was rioting in the streets, people dying, and protests, yet Felsenburgh quells all of it with his promise of peace. Last year, a major convention was organized surrounding the hoax known as climate change. This was nothing more than a reorganization of the world toward a new order. It was not about the climate.

It is of course interesting to read and hear of such theories rather or not there is a solid foundation to base them upon. But then, a theory is not much less then a guess, and guesses are a penny a dozen.
Books and films are for entertainment and not meant to be believed as fact. A good example of if a lie is big enough, people will believe it..
Example: The War of The World. This threw so many people in to panic, and it was only a radio programme.
