Pola Negri was such an icon, but this was a long time ago. Nobody from these times is alived anymore. For me these types of movies became old too quick, they were not lasting, it was just an epoch, which fainted away.

It is such a shame those times are gone forever never to return. Those were quality acted photos/cinema of such special quality. The clothing, the body language you could feel and understand deeply as the plot would unfold. For then emotions would come out involuntarily as a sigh or groan, what ever and how ever, the results were simply emotionally taxing.
The cloths of the day, the autos, the glamour, all is lost now and never to return.

Karl I understand, but regarding 'the clothes of the day' etc., many of us do our best to bring back glamour and grace and just old fashioned etiquette. I agree, though, it's hard to find people who do the same.

I think though, if to remove that year of question to that of today, and replace the clothing of the time we are speaking of, the person is still there such as you will find here on this forum. I was a war time child {1940}, although time as changed, there still is that which will not leave that I find in my own taste in both music and clothing. But of course to fit in with currant society and requirements of work. Karl

Karl and Sosna, we are always sentimental about the old times. But the old times were not necessarily the better ones. I think, what bothers me the most about these old movies is the over-exaltation, the emotions are very strong but there was not too much depth to it.
