Here is one of the oldests films by Polanski: "Two men and the wardrobe" showing quite irrational way of two people carrying a wardrobe from the sea... to different places, towns, meeting interesting people, beautiful girls, finally a group of gang boys (among them Polanski) attacking the men carrying the wardrobe, breaking the glass, then men recovering from the accident and then back to the sea.
Quite irrational, with no words, no politics... funny and new wave, although done in 1957

Here is an interview of Polanski where he admits that his heart is in Poland and his soul in France. He was born in France, but then he and his father survived the Holocaust. Polanski was able to be on the non-Jewish side, he also did not look really Jewish. Polish people protected him. He found his father and wanted to reunite after the war, but his father was in a relationship with a different woman that did not accept Polanski, or maybe he did not accept her, since he felt that his father betrayed his mother, who was pregnant when sent to the camp where she died.
Polanski was very persistent, talented and in spite of his short statue was able to get to the film school in Poland where he did several prominent movies, noticed by the West. His life is a stream of good and bad events, he lost his pregnant wife due to Manson's sect.
It is amazing how many times Polanski recovered, including his ban in the US after the rape.... this is probably the only story many of you know about Polanski... so please, do not bring more info about this one story, since there are so many other facts from his life that are very unusual.
Here is an interview with Charlie's Rose:
