My grandmother came from this town in 1912 according to Ellis Island arrival records. She spelled it this way in her information about her life. In searching Ellis Island records, I see many people people coming from this village. It is usually associated with Russia, on occasion with Poland, but most of the people are noted as speaking Polish. Many are noted as born in Wilnow or Wilna (Vilnius) so I am feeling that it is in that area where it was part of Russia in 1912, but now part of Poland. If you need any of the arrival records I have found I can upload them. I thank you in advance for any help. Some variations in spelling in the transcribed Ellis Island records: Sakowiec Sakowitz sakowicze Sakowiczi Sakowiczy Sakowiczr Sakowiazy Sakowitzy
