Hello John,
looks great. CT reminds me of Eastern Canada. The same type of churches. I saw deep fried oreo cookies.... this had to be a high calorie thing
I just wish we had something like that here in Idaho!

Hi Jaga,
This neighborhood is where I grew up. It is the first time in many years that I have returned. Also visited my parents and friends grave sites.
On one of the corners I used to shine shoes for a quarter to earn some spending cash.
The neighborhood has changed dramatically in the last ten years. It is all improved with new buildings, new shops and a upbeat attitude that will help very much. The city of New Britain has renamed the neighborhood as 'Little Poland' and when we drove to the other side of town, at the entrance to Arch Street, there also was a sign. It said 'Arch St.' and just below it was 'Bario Latino'. Two distinctly different ethnic neighborhoods with their own identity. It will be interesting to see how it works out.
That church you see is where I went to school to learn Catechism, Polish language and physical abuse by nuns. They thought I was incorrigible.
By the way, this town is also the home town of Tomek a.k.a Hussar on this forum.

Hello John, I did not realize that this was town of your childhood, where you went to the church. Where did you encountered the abuse? Was it during the religion classes or you went to the Catholic school? Recently there is more info about clergy and nuns abuse. I never had a bad experience with nuns. I had a nun teaching us the first grade and she was kind, considerate and intelligent. Good to see that the Polish and Latino quarters coexist together Say hello to Tomek Hussar. How is he doing?
