My friend from Poland wrote me that it was amazing.... did any of you have a chance to watch? Maybe Pieter? www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-44945452Lunar eclipse: Century's longest 'blood moon' delights skygazers As it rose, during this total eclipse, Earth's natural satellite turned a striking shade of red or ruddy brown. The "totality" period, where light from the Moon was totally obscured, lasted for one hour, 43 minutes. At least part of the eclipse was visible from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, most of Asia and South America.

Dear Jaga,
Unfortunately I couldn't see it because after a long frought yesterday evening suddenly clouds appeared above Arnhem. Thank god it rained at night and in the morning. I went to my living room with the balcony where I left the door open and inside my living room next to the open door de floor was wet of the rain. So I am happy today that the rain brought some cool and that the vegetation (plants, trees, grass and etc.) got some water, because trees, grass and plants became dull, brownish green and the grass became dark jellow with light brown spots. For North-Western Europe it was extreme hot and I have difficulties with this deep hot weather over here. I tropical places or Southern-Europe it is pleasant, but not over here. The humid climate over here makes extremely hot summers difficult. In dryer area's it is more pleasant, like for instance Montpellier, Southern-France.
But it was exceptionally dry this year too. Farmers really got in trouble, because people couldn't use water from ponds, ditches, chanals, rivers and lakes anymore, because the water level was going down rapidly. There was even an official warning to use little amounts of water, the authorities said to us; "Don't shower to long, use water with care, don't use large amounts for your garden and etc." This is really exceptional for the Netherlands. That this wet, low lands are dry this summer means that it is an extremely hot and for some dangerous summer. (Dangerous for the elderly, dangerous for Cara patients, dangerous for people with Lung Diseases and other people who are ill) People who went to hot summer destinations like Italy, the Dutch Caribbeans, Surinama, the Canary Islands or other places said that these places were pleasant compared with the Netherlands. Pleasently hot days and cool evenings and nights.
Over here I couldn't sleep the past couple of nights due to the heat, 24 celcius (75.2 Fahrenheit) at night and temperatures like 37 and 39 celcius (98.6 and 102.2 Fahrenheit during the day). I hope that during the coming week it will be a little bit cooler and pleasant.
Cheers, Pieter

Pieter, sorry to hear there were clouds, but at least they brought some needed rain. I guess, nobody should be surprised, since you are located in the Netherlands.
Your apartment is probably small. We usually cool our house in the evening, night and the morning with fans, so it is just so nice and cool for the rest of the day. Idaho weather is better than Japan's and probably better than the weather in Netherlands, but we have our heat also, and unfortinately our nature is not that beautifully green because of that.

Jaga
As with Pieter, my self did not see it, my work is inside and yesterday was my long day until 22:00 hrs. Once out of the building, it was quickly to the flat, a TV dinner out of the micro-wave, two pieces of toast and off to bed.

Karl, if you are in Pueblo you probably didn't have a chance to see it anyways. Do you also have to work on Sundays? Mostly at present, since time in grade, my work is inside the building, darn.. Karl
