www.dw.com/en/polish-man-dies-after-strasbourg-attack/a-46765326A Polish man who was critically wounded during a terror attack at a Christmas market in the French city of Strasbourg died from his injuries on Sunday. Barto Orent-Niedzielski was the fifth fatality from last week's mass shooting. "My brother Barto Pedro Orent-Niedzielski has just passed away. He thanks you for the love and strength you have given him," the brother of the 36-year-old Polish-born victim wrote on Facebook. Orent-Niedzielski and his Italian friend Antonio Megalizzi had blocked the attacker from entering a concert venue during Tuesday's assault. When they saw the attacker, they reportedly rushed to stop him. Megalizzi, 28, died from his injuries on Friday. Hundreds gather to remember victims

Barto Pedro Orent-Niedzielski and Antonio Megalizzi did the right thing trying to protect others and trying to prevent a larger disaster. I hope that their effort was not in vain and that their action prevented more deaths at the concert venue at the christmas market in Strasbourg. That memories of Orent-Niedzielski may live on and that his family may remember him for who he was, and that the French will honour and remember him too. I also hope that before this tragic event he might have enjoyed the beautiful Alsace city in the the Grand Est region of France with it's German and French elements. The German name of the city is Straßburg. It is good that life continued in the city after the terror attack and that the French continued the christmas market, and by doing so they didn't give in to the terrorist. The same the British did earlier and the Spanish and Americans and Belgians too.

Pieter,
yes, I am proud of these two men. Nationality does not matter, intensions and heart does. I was in Strasbourg once. It is a beautiful town.

Jaga, It doesn't matter if Barto Pedro Orent-Niedzielski was Gay, Straight, Bi-sexual or transgender. The most important fact is that he acted and tried to save lives. Strasbourg attack victim, Barto Pedro Orent-Niedzielski, 36. Picture: FacebookSource:FacebookCheers, Pieter
