Guys,
this is already our second snow this season. It was snowing so hard that we had to clean the trees from the snow, since the snow was heavy and thick and the trees still had lots of leaves!!! One big branch was broken.
I would post the picture but we have some communication problems with our satellites, so I will do it after all will be fixed

Even in our local radio the guy was complaining that it seems that the snow and the worst weather always comes for the weekend. I almost feel that this is God Blessing that this happens just on weekend. Can you imagine problems with traffic, people going to work if it snowed on Monday like that?
The last snow also came on Saturday.

Good heavens yes! You do have your early snow!! I was laughing but a bit on the radio fellow of his dis-satisfaction of snow on the weekend... It would so seem with these people, to play is a pre-requisite with them.
I would suspect the other way though, as your area is alpine and with snow, would so also be {winter sport} of skiing and skating.
Here in the Pacific North West, it is what I am accustomed to, rain/wind/dampness and then over once more of the same. for as it should be, for today I purchased a replacement hat in expectation of a wet/cold winter.
The alpine passes are still clear with only the snow in the high Alpine areas.

Goodness, Jaga, snow already? Wow! It's only Oct. 6!!! Do you guys normally get first snow in Oct? The earliest we have the potential for snow is late Nov. (which is early enough!)

I heard the weather reports about snow in some parts of the nation where as we folks in the south still have hot-in the 90's and humid conditions. The calendar says "Fall." I wonder if your early snowfall means that ya'll will have a severe winter coming?
"Where is Idaho? In Alaska?" Alaska is pretty with their snow. The mountains are so majestic looking. It is common for the mountains to receive their first snowfalls up there, while the rivers below start to churn with ice. There is a crispness in the air, that the land is ready to sleep for awhile. Most of the tourists are gone. It is quiet and calming, but life still goes on for many who live in such an extreme environment.
Jaga-do you have any old wives tales that "forecast" the upcoming season? People around here look at the coats of their livestock & predict the winter maybe be mild. How did people in Poland predict their weather-other than with the weather service? Where there signs of things that one would look for?

The snow is still there but it is melting. It was really beautiful and very bright today here in Idaho since the sky was all blue and then this white snow. The hills also looked pretty in white. Just like in Alaska.
Frankly, I think Idaho is much prettier in winter than in summer since one can see a lack of trees in summer. But the snow did some damage. I saw some trees broken in half since the snow was just too heavy on trees with leaves on.
It is quite early for a snow this year, I agree.

The snow is melting but here you can see a huge snowman with my Ela. But she did not do the snowman, this was done on front of one of the houses from the same street

It must have not been very cold...for she is wearing only a sweat shirt. Perhaps I forgot, kids don't feel the cold like us old folks... Look at those beautiful red leaves! We usually don't see autumn colors like the golds, reds & oranges of the leaves here. They are green year round, then turn brown, and then they fall off. Thank goodness for pictures of autumn colors. OK, now I can say I woke to the first frost of the season. Yesterday a few cars from other parts of town were driving around with a small amount of snow on them, but today frost came to my mountainside. I expect it will warm up today and am planning on getting a bit of wood staining finished before the first snow comes and stays.

Jaga,
That is a great picture of Ela (tell her Robert and I say hello!) and I love the contrast of the giant snowman and leafy tree in fall colors!
Hopefully you guys won't have any more snow for a while, so you get a chance to enjoy the autumn!

Suzanne,
now we have a beautiful fall again, but many trees lost their branches, since the snow was so heavy... I will try to post more autumn pictures!
