Aha... be careful.... I was born in Erie and raised in Lake County north of Warren. I once drove a cousin from NY to Warren for a "Russian" bowling convention. My three hour trip was completed three days later.... some town you have!
On my better side I do know the Benedictine Convent in Erie well.

OMG ED! I was raised in Warren! I live in Forest County now. With my Dad's years of heart issues I spent many hours at Hamot and the VET"S Hospitals. The Millcreek Mall was a must for Christmas shopping for quite a few years until our area got a few more stores and such. (Warren finally got a Walmart and a Lowes last year. Titusville has a Walmart now too, where I buy most of my groceries) Did you live in Erie, or one of the beautiful little towns on the lake. I just love the Northeast area. Mary Yes Mary, I am from Erie. I lived there the first 35 years of my life, economics and wanderlust are what made me leave. Of course I am very familiar with the places you mentioned, I worked at a store in the Millcreek Mall for a couple of years. I have relatives that live in North East and I worked in a winery there. My North East aunt and uncle have a hunting camp in McKean county, not too far from Warren, it is quite beautiful there. I have spent a lot of time trout fishing over that way and also South of Erie. I was lucky, I grew up 2 blocks from Lake Erie and because of that I have an affinity for being near the water. Luckily there is a small pond about 100 meters from the house we are building and many trees around the area. It is just a pond but at least it is water.

Kai If you are talking about the Benedictine convent out in Harborcreek, East of Erie, I know it well too. My parents contributed money to help build it and my mother was very active with the Benedictines and some of their social projects. The funeral service for my father was held in their chapel at the convent in 2004.

The funeral service for my father was held in their chapel at the convent in 2004. Yup, the same. I had two aunts there and was never able to visit Ohio without dropping in on the Aunts as well. Quite a pair; one worked until she was 80 before she figured she would retire! She enjoyed a ride on one of the family Harley's and the wind blowing through her hair as well, around her 80th year. If we get into names and details I prefer off line for private info. Kai PS. This is the same lively bunch of Benedictines who have 1) their own windmill generator; 2) gas well; 3) run soup kitchens and training for people; and 4) opposed the first Gulf War and were voted - on a local radio station - less popular than Saddam Husein! Good people all, I would say!
