Jaga's recent thread about psychics-Does anyone believe in spirits? Naw not the bottled kind ;D, but spirits that roam the earth before they pass. Has anyone had/have a spirit in their family that makes its presence known? I have seen shows on the dish network about spirit hunters and what they find. Even tho you may have a strong faith, do you still think it's possible that those who have been "laid to rest" some are not truly resting? We've had alot of experiences with spirits-not the bottled kind either. No, I'm not crazy-warped yes , crazy no. Joyce TX

Joyce TX Joyce No you are not warped/crazy...Yes as a person, I realize of the bible explanation of the dead, {the dead know not, the dead feel not, they are dead}--not a quote--. A flat I lived in some many years past, was of nothing of note, just a simple plain flat. I was of need of silence and no nosy people, and it served this purpose very well for a year of 2. But,,,in mid evening once, I awoke to breathing over my face. Thought perhaps I was dreaming and returned to sleep, for a bit only, for once more awakened the same breathing over my face. I then become very angry, switched the lighting on full and searched the flat completely with out nothing to be found. Then I returned to my bed, to sleep. And once again that darn breathing over my face, I swatted above my face and once again completed a complete search of the flat with out a result. For the remainder of 2.5 years I used the flat, this become common occurrence, and I become used to my ghost breather. The sensation was of curiosity and not mean, just curious. I talked with the lady of rent of the occurrence. She was in first, stared, then explained of the occurrence. It was the reason of the previous person to have left. That of an elderly man died in this flat some several years previous. She only ask I not make mention of this for as not create a reason for concern of others. Rather it was a true ghost? Who will know for certain, what I am certain is I heard some thing of breathing sound. Charles

None of you are crazy or warped. (well....maybe I should think about that. hahaha)
Spirits are tortured souls, for one reason or another, that can not let themselves pass from this world to the next.
I used to think this was hogwash, then I experienced firsthand. Once at age 17 and again when I lost a gentleman friend of 7 years. (We used to say we were soul-mates. I now know how true that was.) He hung around until the present man came into my life and then left as if he knew I would now be alright.
I'm a believer and no one will change my mind on that!

I lived in a house that had a spirit in it. Every year in the spring Iris would come to visit for a while. She loved to sit in a chair in one of the front windows and (I assume) look out. If a chair wasn't there for her, she would get one and position it in front of the window. She preferred a rocker. Our dog would sit at the side of the chair and act as if being petted or stroked. Iris was also a penny pincer and if you left the lights on in a room went you went out, she would turn them off for you. We all caught "something" out of the corner of our eye quite often. The she would leave and things went back to normal until the next spring. She was never intrusive for us but the family that lived in the house before us, apparently had a couple if incidents where she left them know that she didn't like something they were doing. As the children grew older, they proclaimed one night that they didn't believe in her. Suddenly a loud crash sounded from upstairs. They all rushed up the stairs and the bedroom door was locked or stuck shut - at least they could not get the door open. There was strange rushing noises coming from the bedroom. Suddenly the door flew open and all of the drawers had been pulled out of the boys chest of drawers and their clothes scattered all over the bedroom! They all said they were sorry to Iris, picked up the clothes and watched what they said after that.

We still have a spirit that reminds us that we are not alone. The spirit that Hollister spoke about is similar to what ours has done in the past. The spirit we believed was my husband's uncle Frank. We believe that he was like a guardian for our son.
No one else was home in the apartment we lived in except me. I heard this banging coming from our son's bedroom. I opened the door and found the dresser drawers opening and closing all by themselves. If I didn't see it with my own eyes... in the same apartment, the big heavy front wooden door would open all by itself-yes it was properly latched. We had a wrought iron plant stand with heavy clay pots on it. We saw the plant stand move...iron is heavy and so are the planters full of dirt & flowers, but yet it moved all by itself. I guess the spirit didn't like the stand there. We finally moved the stand & plants outside on the balcony.
We kept a tidy apartment-but yet the spirit got into the hall closets and "threw" things off the closet shelves. In the kitchen, the spirit did not like where I kept the garbage sack, for the garbage sack moved from the wall to the edge of the kitchen doorway and then out popped a soup can and rolled UP a carpet lip into the dining room floor.
When we moved into our house, we thought the spirit would have stayed behind. But in our house, the spirit is still with us. Doors open & close by themselves, closets are still invaded. Things disappear. It's not a matter of forgetting where you put things. We have a cow bell on the door. The bell will clang all by itself, as if someone is opening the door. But the door remains shut. We just accept our spirit as part of the family. But we have also found out that there are a few spirits on both sides of the family. My aunt & uncle(father's side)-who are very religious-also speak of a spirit that would disrupt their church's office and main chapel area.

I listen to Art Bell on AM radio alot. That is all they talk about. I find it entertaining although I really don't believe most of the stuff they are talking about.
I guess most don't believe something without absolute proof. My most recent experience was this.
Not too long ago my brother put to sleep his dog. I gave it to the kids as they had recently lost their dog and every time a dog commercial came on it was evident they missed her. When my brother put Valentine to sleep shortly after I was at home sitting on my sofa reading a book and all of a sudden I felt my nose curl up to some type of smell. I looked up to see if my patio door was opened as sometimes when the wind blows a certain way I will experience what ever it blows in. The door was closed. No reason for it and then I realized it smelled just like bad doggie breath and felt it was Valentine saying goodbye. (we were close even though it was the kids dog and I didn't know my brother was planning on putting her to sleep) I still feel it was her presence as what other explanation could there be.

Holly, Joyce, your stories sound amazing. I do believe that some places have their spirits. I felt a spirit ( I thought I saw it also) in one of my previous apartments in Texas.

We think our spirit travels with us. When we lived in NJ, in my husband's mom's house, the spirit would make itself known. We, the whole family would be sitting in the living room watching tv. We would hear the floor creak as if someone was walking thru the house. There are floor boards in that house that would creak under someone's weight. We saw a white-ish figure move thru the house.
My mom in law said that this white figure-she assumed it was a lady-would sit on the edge of her bed at night-as to pay her a visit. My mom in law really got spooked.
The room where me & husband slept in, I believe was a portal of some kind. The room had cold spots in it, altho no windows were open, doors were shut. Even checked the temperature with a thermometer. It read 20 degrees colder in one spot, but yet the rest of the room was warm.
Jaga-would you elaborate about your spirit experience(s)?

Jaga-would you elaborate about your spirit experience(s)? Once I woke up or maybe I was in this stage when you are between a sleep and a full awakening and there was a shade of a man standing at the legs of the bed. I screamed. What was strange, I was not very easily to be afraid then since i was living with a roomate. She was sleeping in the other room but the house where we had an apartment was old. Before this happened (or maybe afterwards, I am not sure), I could swear, I could see a shadow of him sitting at the table, a bit further away from me. Before that time i lived by myself in another apartment and this never happened to me. So, I felt that this person belonged to this space .... or maybe this was just my imagination, this strange time between the sleep and awakening...

Yes this would be of a shock upon waking! I have wondered also of this particular grey time of awakening. For also have I heard of this before. It seems to be within the twilight between pre-sleep and pre-awake, if this is of any sense. In the cases of that I had heard, the emage disappear as the eyes blinked. Charles
