Russia is opposing ex-president Kwasniewski nomination for UN head. I wonder whether this would help or damage Kwasniewski's chances in opinions of other countries

;D Jaga. It is probably because he has not learned to give or take bribes. Russia and other countries in the UN do not want an honest person in the position of leaership.

;D Jaga. It is probably because he has not learned to give or take bribes. Russia and other countries in the UN do not want an honest person in the position of leaership. No, it is rather a political opposition of the Russian president who aims to score points at home. Putin and his boys can`t swallow and afford such an offence that a Pole can be the leader of UN. They claim we had a Pope and that should be enough for us for the next 100 years. Hmm, you mentioned honesty. Unfortunately, Kwasniewski isn`t so pure himself. The media revealed some dirty games (political, personal and financial) he or his men played in the past. Besides, he was a communist activist before 1989. There are really more worthy people in Poland who could be better than Kwasniewski. However, they are not known outside the country. If he becomes the secretary or not, it won`t matter to me.

IMO Kwasniewski should fight to win. Move UN HQ from NYC, USA to Warsaw, Poland (seriously). Carl

I have only one question: Would Poland want Putin to be head of the UN? So, what is the fuss about?

I agree with Carl and Bob,
Get the UN out of this country.
Eric, If Putin was nominated why not.

If another country wants the UN I will help with the move. It has been very corrupt since the late 50s after Dag Hammarskjold died in a plane crash. He was a good leader of that institution.
