Does anybody knows where Polish name of turkey "indyk" came from? Maybe Polish turkey just came from India? Just joking many vegetable names came from Italian to Polish, therefore we have pomidor (tomato) - as pomme di terra (fruit of the earth) but I do not know where the names for some birds came from
