Polish-American Journal listed the most important list of wishes and also reflected on our reality and I have to agree with Mark Kohan, the main editor of this journal: www.polamjournal.com/News/Editorial/editorial.htmlCHANGING TIMES. Advent, the weeks leading up to Christmas, have changed considerably since our grandparents' time. Today, the solemnity and observances of the season are clouded by a society that has (in my opinion), just too much. We are "on" all day long. From the minute we wake until we hit the hay, we are bombarded by constant news, sports, weather and entertainment. If we are not watching TV, we are on the computer. If not that, then we are at the mall or on the cell phone (and more than often, both at the same time). Or Cousin Wojtek came to town and we want to take his kids to the ice rink. Add in little Johnny's school play and Christina's Christmas concert, and there goes the weekend. When they say the holidays come and go so fast, I think they mean that when the holidays come, we must go faster! It is this "trying to fit it all in" that gets everyone stressed over the holidays

and here is a wish list:
WHAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE IN 2006. First and foremost, we would like to witness the beatification and canonization of Pope John Paul II. Many of you are already calling our late pontiff "John Paul the Great," a description of both his extraordinary talents and our love for him. Let us pray this comes to fruition. And …
• An increase in memberships in Polonia's organizations. Why not make 2006 the year you donate your time and talent to your local Polish club? If there are none in your immediate area, you may to consider membership in one of Polonia's national organizations, many of which are written about on the pages of the PAJ.
• Increased membership in our fraternals and volunteer organizations. Many people neither appreciate nor understand the fantastic work these groups do. But, like all organizations, they need new members to help get things done. If you can't lend a hand, then send a donation. Strong organizations mean a strong Polonia.
• Increased attendance at Polish festivals and events. Polonia has been lucky that its larger events still draw colossal crowds, but many of our smaller venues are feeling the pinch. Blame that on fuel costs, demographics or whatever you wish, but most of the smaller, local events usually have a minimal admission, and in most cases, none at all.
• Increased cooperation between our organizations. Too much energy is spent in Polonia duplicating causes, sponsoring events on the same day, or trying to outdo one another. Most of the time, these "problems" can be resolved with just one telephone call. Let us support each other for the good of Polonia.
• Of course, it goes without saying that we would like to see the number of subscribers double, not only for the PAJ, but for all our sister publications. Each provides a very important service for the areas they cover, and there is room for everybody.

Gollies Leslie
Do you have to bring up that thing of losing a war! Got to big for our boots again.
Well, you guys keep forgetting, Germany is a very young nation compared to your United Kingdom. It (Germany) is only actually a shade over 134 years.
Our ancestors fed all those viking Danes under their raven Banner and those Saxons under their dragon banner, a whole lot of lies about easy plunder along the English coast. They were a pain any way, never could get along with any one. So they left to bother you guys..
Neat trick, yes?
