OK, let's make the whole thing clear. In Poland Christmas didn't use to start before Christmas Eve - the tree was decorated then, no carols before the Shepherds' Mass at midnight. Before Christmas there was Advent period and it was unbelievable to start Christmas season so early. That is why the celebrations lasted until the Epiphany and the tree was taken down on February 2 at the latest. We celebrated Christmas after not before it. Now the season begins in late November (o, tempora; o, mores!) purely for commercial reasons. No wonder that some people would be sick and tired if Christmas after three months of hearing the songs and seeing the decorations. BTW, have you read "Skipping Christmas" by John Grisham? Good laugh, I recommend.
