There is actually interesting Polish twist in the intelligent design controversy:
"LAWRENCE, Kan. - A college professor who drew sharp criticism for comments deriding Christian fundamentalists over "intelligent design" said he was forced out as chairman of the university's religious studies department.
Paul Mirecki, who remains a professor at the University of Kansas, said he had no choice when he signed the resignation letter, typed on stationary from the dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
"The University penalized me and denied me my Constitutionally protected right to speak and express my mind," he said in a written statement Friday for the Lawrence Journal-World. He said his career had been ruined and his speaking engagements canceled.
Mirecki also said he had retained an attorney.
The university "has a duty, as a protector of intellectual honesty and debate, to support its teaching staff when controversial issues are raised," he wrote.
University spokeswoman Lynn Bretz said Saturday that Mirecki resigned the chairmanship last week on the recommendation of faculty members.
The university "stands unequivocally in support of his First Amendment rights and his rights to academic freedom," Bretz said.
The controversy began with a course Mirecki planned to teach called "Special Topics in Religion: Intelligent Design, Creationism and other Religious Mythologies." The class was proposed after the Kansas Board of Education decided to include more criticism of evolution in its school science standards.
The class was canceled last week after e-mails surfaced in which Mirecki mocked religious conservatives as "fundies" and said a course describing intelligent design as mythology would be a "nice slap in their big fat face." He has apologized for those comments." Pozdrawiam. G.

I am not sure about this all issue. It hurts me though that in spite of the fact that America, just like Europe have Christmas roots - because of the political correctness and because of ine influx of foreign immigrants with different tradition, culture and religion now a person should not talk about Christmas sometimes not to hurt the feelings of others. What about muslim countries? In many cases they do not even allow people to practice their beliefs if they are not muslim? You are simply right, to much of political correctness irritates me too!

Charles Remember what I said - as in every country there are good 'uns and bad 'uns. The dual stands. I would prefer a battle of Wodka. How do you feel up to 15 shots of Wyberowa - no ice, no mixers , as a starting warm up. Don't wory - I'll have the paramedics standing by to take care of you. Or if you prefer 20 drinks of Hot Russian - 2 shots of wodka with 2 shots of gin mixed with one shot of tomato juice? Name your poison and I'll be on the next flight. Leslie
(Champion Drinker of Cumbria 2004) That is very impressive, excellent credentials! I must say in this beginning, my credential's are not impressive as within the community of drinkers in and out of my area, my presence is entirely unknown, more or less then a black Knight with out a banner.
But, I can make up for that with valor
As you have brought forward, a preference of vodka, that is fine, matters not a whit to me of the label, even if it is oily.
But, I must protest the use of paramedics. Some of those individuals are ghouls or Vampirs. Never trust too closely, and individual that is so highly interested in taking your blood.
I must also first place a complaint: This as a protest of some minor details, but, non-the-less, very important.
For one thing, not a whit of thought, has been offered to light, of the strength of said beverage! What alcohol content of proof are we offering here for consumption?
The other question of detail: The volume amount that constitutes a shot?
And lastly: Proper disposal of the left over body (loser) we must and should consider that factor in light of public safety and health concerns. My proper suggestion would be as to the disposal question. I would offer the hospitality of my residence for recuperation and revitalization as a most straight forward answre.
I realize these are small details, but, it is the small parts that make up the ship.

;D Charles I am desolated that I am having to defer our duel - notice I said DEFER not CANCEL. So keep practising. My son (Aged 22 Civil Servant) was having the day off today to do his Christmas shopping and he asked what I wanted - I said I would deem it an honour if he gave me a case of Bison Grass wodka. Fine chance of getting that round here, never mind a case of it from him! It would take me all my time to by a case of 12 bottles in one go!! Will have to finish this later as some guests are arriving - hope they've brought their own wodka! Leslie

Charles - back again. My friends have gone on down to the pub where I shall be joining them when I have had my dinner (1920H here now). My favourite wodkas are, in descending order Zubolka Wyborowa Gorbachow Chopin Krakus and Absolow. But if not one of those, I would force myself to drink it! As I said before, watch out, you never know when I might pop up - you'll recognise me by the bottle of Zubolka in my hand and one in each pocket! Merry Christmas Leslie
