I am most interested in what you think - particularly our Polish members - about the two hot topics: 1) siting of the US defence missiles on Polish territory agreed by the Prime Minister and 2) as announced by the Prime Minister, the likelihood of a general election in Poland in November?

Leslie,
you probably need to wait until the end of vacations, more Poles would come here afterwards.
If you ask the question it is better to signalize the topic in the title. If the title is "What do you think" it does not really show what you ask about. One have to see the body.... just for the future reference

Sorry Jaga Can't agree with you about the subject reference. A lifetime as journalist, author and designer of training sessions etc, I have found that less than the full title can increase interest by its mystery. Not in every case, but that has to be decided on its merits. Lezli (!)

I am sorry my friend. But, Jaga has an excellent point. I realize you are titled to the length of an arm. But, the titled presentation is an open title of unknown to the reader. There needs be a clear subject matter of disclosure so as to prep the reader into the proper mind-set of content. Other wise you are holding the reader hostege for a disclosure of that you control. I think this was covered very well by Ian earlier in the month.
In the 1st, I was to avoid the subject for as indicated of your self, that only the target Polish audience was with invitation to participate in the presentation. But, in this stead, a loused Hun intervened...
I think many many years back, a patriarch of yours named {Winston Churchill} suffered the similar irritations with his various meetings with our then Kaiser in the early 1900s.
Now that I have been a couse of irriatations, you may place back on the wall, your old tatered viking ship print filled with oar bearing devils, and toss darts to strike their eyes and hearts...for the sea wil give, but, also the see will take.

Leslie...I must confess I do the same because that usually spurs curiosity and they will usually look rather than overlook. But I remember somewhere that Scatts when cleaning up the boards asked if we would put info in the title. We are caught between a rock and a hard place but at least you are not alone ;D

Guys,
there are very different rules for the titles in the press articles and on the internet. The internet article/discussion which is entitled : "what do you think" would never be found by the internet engine. Therefore the rule for the internauts is to put so many keywords in the internet title as you can. But in the press article - one can do it differently - some secrecy can work better.
Here in the forum - I agree, some people can be attracted by the vaqueness (lack of concrete) of the title, but many people would never find what you wanted to say if they use the search engine.
So, there is just a difference with presenting the title in the internet as compared to your daily newspaper.

Besides, you want to target a specific audience - the Poles. But you do not explain in the title that this is for Poles.
if you write: POLES: what do you think?
people who login here from Poland would pay more attention to this post.

Jaga...you bring up some good points. For one I was never thinking of search engines only what happens here. (I better be careful what I say from now on) Also I meant to say I use to do the same (I hope not at least) Don't want Mr. Scattergood kicking my butt around this forum ;D
