There seems to be lots of strange news from Russia suddenly. Here is the first one: the guy who killed a traffic control man - was greeted my hundreds of supporters. It seems that the attitude of revenge is still strong there. Hundreds welcome freed revenge killer home November 16, 2007 Edition 4 Beslan, Russia - A man who murdered an air traffic controller in Switzerland after his own family's death in a plane crash has been given a hero's welcome. When he returned home from prison on Wednesday, Vitaly Kaloyev (51) looked stunned after touching down at Beslan airport in North Ossetia, a province in southern Russia's turbulent North Caucasus mountains. About a thousand people surged around the bearded Kaloyev and clapped as he went to a waiting car. Asked whether he regretted killing air traffic controller Pieter Nielsen in 2004, Kaloyev answered: "The main thing I repent for is that I have lived in vain - I did not manage to protect my family." After leaving the airport, his first stop was the cemetery where his wife and two children are buried. www.thestar.co.za/index.php?fArticleId=4130260from: www.itar-tass.com/eng/level2.html?NewsID=12070460&PageNum=0

Russia did have through the history several self-proclaimed prophets: Members of a doomsday cult are refusing to leave their hideout in a cave in southern Russia in spite of intervention from their leader, a government official said Friday, adding pressure to a stand-off with the authorities that one side believes will only end with the apocalypse. The cult, which calls itself the "true Russian Orthodox Church," believes the world will end in May. The cult members - including four children - holed up in a ravine in Russia's Penza region, around 400 miles southeast of Moscow, have threatened mass suicide if the authorities try to intervene, the official said. The 29 members of the cult, which calls itself the "True Russian Orthodox Church", claim they will ignite gasoline canisters if authorities try to force them out, regional administration spokesman Yevgeny Guseynov told CNN. The cult excavated the cave system themselves after their leader, Father Pyotr Kuznetsov, told his followers to hide themselves away to await the end of the world, which he predicted will take place next May, according to Russian media reports. more: edition.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/europe/11/16/doomsday.cult/

He is Caucasian (not in the sense of a white man), a person from a mountainous region of Caucasus where tribal laws still regulate the life of locals. These tribal laws ordered the man to repay eye for an eye. Tit for tat strategy. Awful.
