+++Jaga, Google this name - Wayne DuMond and Huckabee.+++ Holly, I heard about the rapist which was released by Huckabee. This was an error, but Huckabee released many prisoners earlier and .... this just happened. Will you prefer pres. Bush approach when he was a governor of TX he executed plenty of prisoners? Jaga this is like asking if I would rather be skinned alive or boiled in hot oil!

Jaga, Do you really want a Baptist minister or any other kind of cleric, in the White House? You ignored my comment to you in an earlier post on this thread, America was founded under the separation of church and state and that is protected by the First Amendment to the US Constitution. How can Huckabee be permitted to run for the presidency? I don't agree with the Bush Texas style justice, but Huckabee ought to go back to his ministry and stay out of politics.

Jaga, I also like McCain, but just recently, since I've learned more about him. Funny though, Romney claims that McCain IS an establishment candidate and that HE (Romney) is not! I might also agree with Pawian if I could understand what the heck he is saying! I don't think it's so much a matter of Pawian's brother coming down from the mountain as Holly said, but a matter of the vodka coming down from the cabinet! Jeanne, Romney has money and perfect mormon organization. He has a support of FoxNews and Rush Limbaugh. He is a rich CEO. He and Guliani are establishment candidates. Romney runs negative ads but he does not tell anything of substance what he would do when he would be a president... except the usual talking points. Huckabee CANNOT be an establishment candidate since he started with ZERO money and the mass media were ignoring him until he became popular enough so that they had to stop ignoring him. Jaga, I think what Romney is trying to say by "establishment" is the Washington scene. He wants to portray McCain as a "Washington insider" (therefore bad) while he (Romney) is NOT an "insider"(therefore good/pure). Huckabee is definitely not a Washington insider either, but I wonder if he's qualified to take on the presidency.

I am reading Obama's book The Audacity of Hope. Thoughts on reclaiming the American Dream, and it's quite interesting that he is able to unite Democrats, independants and Republicans. He is criticized by left and right, but wants to continue his unifying middle course. I am curious how the other Primary elections will go in New Hampshire (januari 8) and South-Carolina (januari 26). It is remarcable that the black democrat won in the predominantly white state Iowa!

The Audacity of Hope
The Audacity of Hope : Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream is the second book written by U.S. Senator Barack Obama. It was the number three bestseller on the New York Times nonfiction list as of October 2006. The book represents Obama's personal manifesto for his 2008 nomination run.
About the author
While a Senate candidate, Obama delivered the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic Convention, entitled The Audacity of Hope, that propelled him to national prominence. In the less than 20 minutes it took to deliver the speech, Obama was catapulted to sudden fame, with many analysts predicting that he might be well-positioned to enter a future presidential race. In 2006, Obama released The Audacity of Hope, a book-length account that expanded upon many of the same themes he originally addressed in the convention speech.
Reception
A "political biography that concentrates on the senator's core values," according to the Chicago Tribune, The New York Times noted that "Mr. Obama’s new book, “The Audacity of Hope” ... is much more of a political document. Portions of the volume read like outtakes from a stump speech, and the bulk of it is devoted to laying out Mr. Obama’s policy positions on a host of issues, from education to health care to the war in Iraq". An Italian translation was published in April 2007, followed by a Spanish translation in June 2007. It has remained on the New York Times Best Seller list for the 30 weeks since publication.
Quotation: The audacity of hope
In his speech addressing the Democratic National Convention in 2004, “In the end, that's what this election is about. Do we participate in a politics of cynicism or a politics of hope? John Kerry calls on us to hope. John Edwards calls on us to hope. I'm not talking about blind optimism here -- the almost willful ignorance that thinks unemployment will go away if we just don't talk about it, or the health care crisis will solve itself if we just ignore it. No, I'm talking about something more substantial. It's the hope of slaves sitting around a fire singing freedom songs; the hope of immigrants setting out for distant shores; the hope of a young naval lieutenant bravely patrolling the Mekong Delta; the hope of a millworker's son who dares to defy the odds; the hope of a skinny kid with a funny name who believes that America has a place for him, too. The audacity of hope!"

To all,
I am so terribly sorry but my brother took control of the computer again while I was out. What a moron - he really thinks that the character of John MaClane played by Bruce Willis is a presidential candidate.
We have already had a serious talk about his pranks but he doesn`t seem to get my point. I partly understand him - he spends most of his time with sheep and cows, there are hardly any people around, I am busy with my work so it`s no wonder he catches at an opportunity and comes round to the forum to socialise a little.
Please forgive him because it`s not his fault. He was born such and we can only say our prayers for him.
PS. Hmm, so you say that this McCain is an honest person?
Hmm, my brother must have some sparks of genius come across his mind. All morons have it from time to time.

PS We all realize that the John McCain Pawain's brother was talking about is a fictional character out of the Die Hard movies and not the Presidential candidate right? Yes, naturally, all do, except for my poor brother.

I don't think it's so much a matter of Pawian's brother coming down from the mountain as Holly said, but a matter of the vodka coming down from the cabinet! It is understandable, you haven`t had a chance to get to know my brother`s intricate way of communicating, especially in English. I can translate something for you if you want: E..g., Jyez, Ai am my bruther Pawaiin. Ii bringen mei scheeph houm. Zei arr bizi douing TV wotshcing. Lokk! It iz zeyr fefeyrit prougrum! It roughly means: Yes, I am Pawian`s brother. I have just come back home with my sheep. Now they are busy watching TV. It is their favorite programme.

But he went to the race with a lot of money and perfect organization. Romney was one time governor, actually, he increases taxes more in his state than Huckabee in his. Both - Romney and Huckabee, have probably less knowledge about foreign policy than they should. But at least we know what to expect from Huckabee, the only thing about Romney we know is that he has a perfect business plan to become a president (to sell himself as a president) but he has no idea what he would do when he would become a president. He would just build a right team, pick up a random employee from the state department and ask the lawyers what to do!

Here is a very good video showing both party candidates greeting each other. Hard to believe that this really happened:
