Well, I did'nt vote for him, but tonight as I go to sleep Barack Obama is the president. I'm cool with that. When I think about the smooth transition of power that we are used to seeing in the U.S. I realize we are truly blessed as a nation. I ask you to join me this evening in a prayer for our president. To the enemies of my beloved homeland..........Suck It!!

Tim, I really hoped our STP party would get some votes. Alas as I entered the voting booth, there was no line for our party. Next best and possibly the best hope for our nation was Barack. It is a great day for our nation. Maybe we have finally realized that we need a government for all the people and not just the rich who want to become richer. Thank you for your post. Though we may somrtimes differ, I am greatful that a fellow American posted this message in acknowledgement of a momentous moment in our history. God bless America!!

FTB, You are my American sister. I got your back. Just like siblings, we may fight like cats and dogs but if someone not in the family messes with you I'll be all over them like a spider monkey jacked-up on Mt. Dew!
Jaga, What is your vision? With you being an immigrant to the country, I'm curious what things about the U.S. you like, What parts of Communism and/or Socialism did you like? You are in a unique position to contrast the different systems. I hope you will take the time to share your experience with me.

Tim
I am so slow! For in my minds eye, I was to be 1st of a large splash of congratulations to all of you Americans! Well, ok, then may I be 2nd! {I like your presentation and as Neville has mention, {Your Spirit!}. ----------------------------------- With the new day, you have a new President, once just a man, now The Commander in Chief of the most powerful nation on earth.
With his new job, as of this title, will go hand to hand, the responsibilities of the work. I am very confident, he knows all too well, his responsibilities that go with the title, but of course, he knows not the exactness of events as they take their course in time.
For that is why Americans choose this man for this job, not for his colour or brilliance upon the podium. But for his high degree of intelligence, as the correct tools for winding through the maze of both domestic matters, and international affairs, that are very prone of entanglement to the un-aware.
The present is now, the future is yet to be. But, The New President of The United States has for support to his decisions, the good will and best wishes of us all!
For may the Country he leads now, as of him self, be prosperous, fruitful, and may all that he will do, be of success.
Congratulations to ALL for your new PRESIDENT!!!!
Karl

i was inspired by his speech. it was a great day for our country. god bless him and the work he has ahead of him. i didn't vote for him, but now i am really glad he won.
and Bob S...i wonder the total of all the money spent by all the potential candidates, all the conventions and all the balls? it has to be enormous. i feel the same way. that money could have been donated to a charity instead. i don't know how some of these politicians sleep at night. in our state of MA the legislators just voted themselves a 5%+ pay raise while talking about cutting police, fire and teachers in addition to hiking up tolls and gas taxes. not to mention record unemployment.
something needs to be done about these crooks.

Ahhh ... echoes of earlier inaugurations. True. The first time I remember hearing such sentiments was from protestant kids saying the rich Catholic Church should sell their treasure and spend it on the poor... now they sell it and spend it on the abused. This inauguration marks far more than a change of presidents and policies. It is a time of crisis and a great step for the former slaves of America. One good celebration is in order! Kai

Jaga, Good grief, more anti Americanism. When will it end? Why don't you just sit tight and wait for the new administration to deal with this, if they can. I heard they can walk on water. YES, WE CAN.

as hard working, tax paying american, i sure do understand. and i am not happy about it. when i read the amount of money it cost to hold these rep/dem conventions, it made me sick. not just those but just frivolous spending in the face of people struggling to make ends meet all over america. its ok to party and celebrate, but please don't spend millions of dollars when you can do it for less. have a little decency in the face of the current economic condition and unemployment numbers and tone it down.
