www.radio.com.pl/jedynka/knews.aspx?iid=237&r=2Today on Jedynka Polskie Radia, they had a segment on the "Śpiewające siostry ". These ladies were reminiscing at home about childhood memories, but it was so fast I really didn't catch much of the conversation. What appealed to me was the singing! Just like my Babcia and her sisters would sing in the tavern at night (one sister's son had a tavern in the basement of their home, and it was just where everyone congregated in the evening). If you click the link above, and click where it says "Posłuchaj (mp3; 0,32 MB)" you will hear the trailer for the program, and an example of the sisters singing. It's wonderful. Does anyone know who these sisters are and if they have any music one can buy?? Chciałbym kupować bardzo!

Thanks Franek80, PM sent! www.radio.com.pl/reportaz/reportaz.asp?id=3076They've now archived the entire 24 minute interview with the sisters. It's a link and not a download. I can't get their names, maybe someone will listen and find out who they are. If you listen to the whole thing, they break out into song every few minutes (though mostly toward the end), and when they all sing in harmony, well, the hairs stand up on the back of my neck and I picture my great aunts singing (not as well as these ladies, but hey!). Play the link and surf the forum. It's nice listening to them at the dinner table talking and occasionally singing, talking of their childhood. Or, if you start the interview, use the bar on the media player almost to the very end: it ends with them singing the entire song (which is previewed at the beginning), which I'd love to know the name of!

5 sisters are:
Latawiec Stanislawa Golab Stefania Rozik Michalina Wielka Janina Kruczkowska Sabina
They are Poles who were born in Yugoslavia and came to to Boleslawiec, Poland in 1946 along with their parents. The father who was born in Wolyn was a singer in the family and he taught them all the songs. He was a great polish patriot not only talking about Poland but also fighting in Italy (possibly on Monte Cassino sisters say) He himself emigrated with his parents from Wolyn to Yugoslavia at age 1 and was taught polish by nuns from Krakow. They didn't like it in Poland at the beginning; they called Poland "other world", it was too cold, the harvest was late summer unlike in Bosnia and Slovenia were they used to live. Some people sisters say came back to Yugoslavia. The sisters say they would be rich if they were paid just 1 PLZ for each song they know. The singing is taking place in the kitchen while sipping coffee.

Piwo, It's a Christmas carol; the story: suddenly angels showed up to sheppard and told them to go to Bethlehem; they gave gift to baby Jesus; they played music for Jesus as old Joseph started to jump up everybody was dancing I wrote email to the author of the radio program asking for the name of the assemble the sisters form and whether she'd know anything about buying their music. I let you know if I get anything from her. Forza

Piwo, I had no idea that we can use Polish letters even in the titles - I did it bilingual so that nobody from forum management would accuse us that we do not use English. Forza, thank you for the explanation, I would not know who these sisters are

Piwo what a great link you brought to the board and story. I understand all that they are saying except trying to find the names and info. That am not sure if was said in the tap or if written somewhere. How great these sister still singing and seem to have a great history and relationship.
Forza where did you get the info about the sisters? (names etc) Is Yugoslavia that mcuh warmer than Poland that they disliked it so much at first.

rdy, The sisters tell their names in that program. All I did was that I wrote them down. It was - if I recall right - somewhere in the middle of that 24 minutes story. I haven't been to Yugoslavia but I'd believe them since Yugoslavia is further south from Polska.
