I have to love those google ads at the top of our forum pages. I just clicked on one, and it led me to this page about a new book jadwigascrossing.com/page1.html about Polish immigrants. Of course, I am purchasing the book and look forward to reading it. Will let you know how I like it (lol - if you care ...)

OK, no one cares... Doesn't anyone READ??? Never mind: "yes, we read, just not novels, even if they have a Polish theme"

Nancy,
My wife is reading/has read it. She has been buying all the books on this kind of subject as well as all the Katyn stories. We get them used for about a buck a book plus shipping.

Nancy, I finished "Jadwiga's Crossing" over the weekend - Have you started reading your copy yet?
I am trying not to let this thread die - I think it could be fun to discuss a book - have a Polish Culture site "book club" of sorts and I am trying to do my part.
BTW if anyone out there would like to read the book - I am willing to send my copy along.
I am trying not to spoil the book for Nancy - but I will say this one of the things I liked about the book is the Polish folk stories that are sprinkled among the narrative.
Jim did you wife say anything about the book?
One LAST thought (for this post) - Nancy, I am amazed that for you the top banner posts offer substantive ads - for me it seems all I get is the big red button that is linked to the promise of a sound of a not so nice bodily function. Is Google hooked up to the NSA and after listening in on our private phone conversations - putting up ads that targeted to us personally? I don't think I talk about bodily functions - maybe it is Wayne....... ;D

Holly,
I am still waiting for the book to arrive! I confess that I had it on a wish list and did not order it until after you said you were reading it and then I opted for free shipping (= slow shipping).
Your comment about the folk stories makes me wish the post would hurry up already!
So now - read Memory of the Forest - that is a great book!
About the banner ads - I see that big red one often, also - usually when I am on the jokes page. so far I have resisted checking it out ... Right now I see one for Mazda.

I think we may have been separated at birth! Your comment about the folk stories makes me wish the post would hurry up already! All good things eventually arrive So now - read Memory of the Forest - that is a great book! I started it this morning - About the banner ads - I see that big red one often Just so I am not the only one! I remember once way back when the forum just opened up - I once got an ad for nude videos! I thought I only got those in my spam filter! I don't think Jadwiga would approve

Holly/Nancy,
I'll see if I can get my wife to join the list and she can tell you about all the books she has read on Katyn and Poland.

Hi, I just joined and I haven't got time to chat tonight, but I do have many reviews on some great books, Polish, etc. that I have read that I will pass on tomorrow. Just a sample..Alicia: My Story is a Memoir written by Alicia Appleman-Jurman, it was a terrific book, she was thirteen and was saving the lives of people while fleeing the Nazis through War-ravaged Poland. I read old books, true stories and historic as well. More tomorrow..Linda
