The Polish newspaper, Gazeta.pl has today revealed, that tape recordings have been found of a private conversation betweem Bogdan and col. Edmund Klich, blaming Russia for "not closing the airport in Smoleñsk." Finally, a bit of undeniable truth came to light! What is interesting, is that the Polish government has totally ignored this hypothesis throughout the entire course od the investigation. As for myself, from the first moment of the tragedy, I have been insisting that this hypothesis is true, and that should be investigated! Not closing an airport in impossible conditions, was a crime! I now see that col. Edmund Klich had after all some common sense. It is sad, though, that he lacked the courage to speak in public. How can a normal person blame young pilots for whatever errors they incurred in, in tryingto land on an impossible airport? They cannot be blamed! The pressure under which the Polish pilots were operating, was caused by the Russian flight controllers, who kept the airport opened, as if teasing these pilots "to show how plucky and brave they were" ( the Russian word is "zuchy". This is no longer about compensation or politics. This is now about pure truth, which then Russian Federation will never be able to deny nor erase from the history of this terrible event!

Actually, Nathanael, the airport where the plane was trying to land was a military airport, and the air traffic controllers DID tell the plane to divert to Moscow or Minsk. The airport was not accepting any more flights that day because of the bad weather. The pilot, however, tried to land anyway.
So, let me go step by step and debunk your statements...
1.) As I said, the airport was closed. 2.) How could a national government "ignore" or "overlook" such an "obvious" fact if it were true? If that's the case, the Polish government should be fired for gross incompetency. 3.) The pilots were not young and experienced. They were flying the presidential plane. These pilots were among the most experienced and capable pilots in all of Poland. No country would EVER allow young, inexperienced pilots to fly the president around. 4.) The pilots were not under pressure from the Russian air traffic controllers. The ATC told the pilots to divert and not land at the airport. The passengers on the plane, however, were very important people - THEY are the ones who insisted on making the landing, anyway.
If you want to hate Russia, you're welcome to. If you want to blame Russia for this accident, you're welcome to. If you choose to believe wild theories instead of investigating the facts, you are welcome to.

Its not easy to forget the past. So that means it's appropriate to make up stories and assign blame where blame is not due?
