Boy, Tom Petty was good some years back, not sure what he is like now, really enjoyed his musik then though. And Stevie Nicks when she was with Fleet Wood Mac and she sang {Gold Dust Woman} I just do not know the other group. It would so appear you have a committment. I would only suggest this though, in every thing, there is always some thing good, we just have to learn to see it Now having just said all of that, and trying to duck at simular time... at any rate, I do hope you find some thing in the evening to make it worth while. Disco! Oh my goodness, who would have guessed, well why not.... Charles

You are so right Charles, I definitely am committed (should be committed) LOL My friend is here up from Florida for the summer and goes back this Monday. She operates on everready batteries just like the bunny. There isn't one minute in her day that she isn't doing something. I no longer feel that way (must be getting older) I like to take my time, relax, and am usually spontaneous. I hate to plan things unless I truly need to and I hate to commit to things because by the time it comes around I have changed my mind about it. Bad day, bad karma, not in the mood...yada yada yada. When she said there is a Tom Petty concert at Darien, Do you think you want to go I said yes as I am off that week. Otherwise I would have said no cause by the time the concert is over its late another hour in the parking lot and traffic to leave and another hour to drive home would be to late as I would need to get up and go to work. (and there was a time I just went directly to work) Also most entertainers that hit Darien Lake are usually on there way out and so cost is not as high as usual price of a ticket. Boy did I find out things have changed there. So now I am stuck having to pay nearly 100.00 for someone I'm really not into. (plus I left all my money at the casino at Niagara Falls yesterday) But I am committed as she already bought the tickets. I like Tom's music but not really into that sort, but the Allman Brothers (remember Gregg Allman who died)are heavy metal. Stevie Nicks I really like so that will justify my evening. Also I am the one that will be driving which I assumed she would be since she asked me to come with her. I have a phobia about driving (but that is a whole other ball of wax) and can't see at night besides. So now I'm more worried about the driving than than the concert. Hopefully all will turn out well and I can come back tomorrow with the reviews. If anything...this will be a lesson learned. Think before you leap/speak. Charles I never pictured you to be a Tom Petty fan but then I never pictured you as a biker dude either. Surprise surprise. LOL

Chris {RDY} Yep, you are stuck Boy, Ticket prices have certainly gone up with time {$100 } is certainly an investment your friend has up front, and even at that, a friend is a friend to cherish. The url of Tom Petty was interesting as also of that of Stevie Nicks. I had heard she had been going through some very bad times after the break up of Fleet Wood Mac. Appears that is all in the past, that is good, for she is such a hard working talented entertainer. It was so very nice of you to compliment me with being a biker, in actual truth, I only owned it for about three years, and once the news reached my bosses, the bike was history. Sure enjoyed the speed and power whilst it lasted. Also whilst in confession: Tom Petty {I really like swing music {hip hop} others were a complete Revelation upon first being exposed to their music. Remember: Johny Cash, Elvis Presley , at the moment they are the only come to mind. Boy, I never dreamed that sort of music existed until then. Elvis Presley and his {blue swede shoes and Johny Cash with his {Ill walk the line} were the high points to us. In Canada there was always the country music stations, French, slow evening 30/40s style and Cajun/Zydeco, it was just not up to this new revelation. To this day, I still hate piano concerts and the Opera. Well, today is your zero hour, it is my greatist wishes that it will turn out ok for you and your friend. I noticed your friend is not the one driving in the heavy return traffic or facing the hassel of parking. Charles

Leslie Please do forgive me for this, but, I was laughing for just a bit with your replies to Chris, not at you, but at your reactions. The UK I think {I could be wrong} is the land of hip hop and pop music bands. Gollies, remember the Beatles, and U2 {sorry, I think the U2 are Irish} and so many more. The U2 sang songs that were the way I feel some times, as also of Tom Petty. www.ukstudentlife.com/Ideas/Album/Fruitstock.htmI do enjoy and listion to the classics as that is what I grew up with. It is just a nice break away with pop music. The big band era was good also. The homes I grew up in were also very conservative, so it was really an enjoyable experience to listion to what I was not to hear or had/was not available. Charles

Charles Wouldn't life be a boring place if we all only liked the same sort of music as everybody else! You seem to have very catholic tastes in music - which is good. I too enjoy classical music - some - also opera and ballet music - again some. But I also like the melodic pop music of the 60s and 70s, but at the same time loved to go to Stan Kenton's concerts. I just can't get away with Rap and the music of some of the most popular current day groups - their 'music' to me sounds like music-less shouting and banging one or two chords on their guitars (that seems to show they haven't learned to play them yet!). Country music (American style) appeals to me but not 'Folk Music' as performed by toneless performers holding one hand over one ear (perhaps even they can't stand the full blast of their attempts!!) We have different tastes - thank goodness as I said at the start. Music to me has to mean something to me (if I can identify the something behind the music). Perhaps I'm just getting old - who me!!!! Pozdrawiam Leslie

Leslie I really do not think we are that apart in our music taste. For one thing, the type you brought to mind of rap music. I absolutely do agree, that is not music, just Bantu chanting. Once so not long ago, whilst on an assignment in Cincinnati Ohio. The evening was so damp and hot, three of us disappeared from our dowdy little hotel room and gathered our selves at a river boat disco{ it actually was a river boat floating on the Ohio River} Once in, we realized this place was a rap place with a majority of Black people. Some were wearing this type of baggy pants from the Arabian nights typen, the loosely called music was some sort of rap/Zulu-Swahili-Bantu lion hunting chant. Well long story short. Once asked of the band of some white/black mix of people next to us {what kind of music is this?} the persons reply: You talk funny, where are you from? I lied and said: South Africa. They left their table, and we got our selves out of that place! We were the wrong people in the wrong place at the wrong time. Well, I was the bad guy with our tiny group. The standing order of the night was: For me to keep the mouth shut, drink my booze and do not ask the locals what the music is and do not talk to the young ladies. {I am old, ugly, shy and married, those young ladies must have been blind, dumb and not knowing}, it just become too much, for I left my friends for our hotel room, at least that place was with sanity, and good late night television. You know Leslie: I tend to believe you are missing an opportunity by staying away from this area of the USA. For a dashing blade of your self, you certainly would not be with out female escort for very long in this Ohio USA Cincinnati area. For my self: my wife is a very seemingly very nice even tempered lady, for her 13 brothers and sisters are a bit unknowing of her actual true self. It is this bit of unknowing that keeps me in line, that and my conscience and dedication to her {and one word from her would place my loused body in a very deep dungeon}. So it would so seem, we each have a master Charles

Charles You have a very clear-cut way of thinking and I enjoy our exchanges. Just one thing; in your last posting you included the words 'that and my conscience and' . Have you come across the Polish truism or aphorism that relates to your statement:
Sumienie jest to ten cichy głosik, który szepcze, że ktoś patrzy.
Just in case your Polish is not up to this - 'Conscience is that quiet voice that whispers that someone is watching'
Always listen to voices!!
