In Hawaii people really identify themselves with Hawaian music. This music is heard everywhere. People identify themselves with it. The most famous artist died in the age of 39 since he was terribly overeight (about 340 kilo, 700 lbs). But his music is wonderful and also patriotic. We bought his most famous CD which is considered to be the Hawaii classic for now: www.e-hawaii.com/iz/izbook/izbook_2003-06.htmwhen Israel Kamakawiwo'ole died his funeral became a state funeral. He was treated as a national hero here is more about him: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_Kamakawiwo'ole

The music of our Indo's ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indo ) sounds like Hawian music to me: George de Fretes - Beyond The Reef Rudi Wairata - Kaiwahu March (1954) The Krontjong Devils - Black Eyes (live 1995) indonesia music The most beautiful girls on my high school were the Indo girls and a Java Surinamese girl (I thought she was Indo, but she was a Surinamese girl from Indonesian - Java- descent).

Pieter,
yes, Hawaian girls are full of grace, they can walk and dance naturally much better than white people (like me).

I'm glad you liked the Hawaiian Music Jaga, perhaps you'll tune into the streaming audio link I provided and listen live. Brudda Iz is a legend there of course: the Bob Marley of Hawaii. I was actually in Hawaii the day after his "funeral" and the whole state was in mourning. His ashes were scattered in a "lagoon", or actually a pool in the ocean that native Hawaiians frequented, and people swam in the pool for over over a day in celebration. His medley of Somewhere over the Rainbow/Wonderful world is probably the sweetest sounding tunes I ever heard. When I first heard it in Hawaii, I had been on the road traveling to different states for 2 weeks, and when I heard this tune, it almost brought tears to my eyes. I don't think God ever created a more beautiful voice. I have many of his songs and CD's....
