Chris (Holly) I know I can always (well almost always) rely on you to educate me, but I would have thought Coeur d'Alene would be in France.
Jim I followed your yellow brick road but the buffaloes that seemed to be in New York ate me, so I didn't get to Utica.
Thank you all for all your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have thought Coeur d'Alene would be in France. Actually there is quite a bit of French influence in northern Idaho - as one of the first white settlers in the area were French trappers from the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) and the French priests who followed. Coeur d'Alene is often translated as "heart of the awl" referring to the Nez Perce (another French term for the local tribe "pierced nose") who were pretty sharp traders when dealing with the French. Thus endeth today history lesson ... How did we start out in New York and ended up in Idaho? I think it is my fault and I apologize for hijacking the thread.

Jim, Small world. I also lived in Little Falls. When we came to the US we first lived in Dolgeville, then short time in Little Falls (my brother was born there) then Utica and on to current residence of Rochester, NY.
Leslie......When I don't know of any place I usually go straight to Google and locate the area. They are very helpful on that site...as a matter of fact quite the know it alls. LOL
George, My brother lives in Latham.
