This could be sub titled with Occult or Folk Practices lens.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/10/31/at-a-crossroads-of-faith-and-folklore/Selections: In remote northeastern Poland there lives a group of elderly Orthodox devotees who are said to possess special powers. They can heal the sick, cast out demons — even still a foe’s heart. Living at a mystical crossroad of Christian faith and folkloric superstition, they consider themselves members of the church, though the church does not. They are called “Whisperers.” Kuba Kaminski, a photographer from Warsaw, had heard of them a few years ago in tales that sounded more like forest myths. But their lives seemed like a natural project to pursue. “I like to photograph the invisible,” said Mr. Kaminski, 28. “I wanted to be there, I wanted to touch the things that people can’t understand.” The Whisperers — or Szeptun, in Polish — do not refer to themselves by that name. Nor do they necessarily identify as Polish citizens — nationality is not their concern. Mr. Kaminski said that if you ask them, “Where are you from?,” they answer, “We are from here.” they do claim the Orthodox faith, saying God obliges them to conduct the supernatural rituals that, in turn, prevent them from being fully embraced by their church. Some of their spells are intended to inflict harm, or death. But the Whisperers insist that their powers are about healing, and not all of them are elderly women. The Whisperer-priest isn’t alone at this intersection of faiths. Mr. Kaminski said that crossroads are powerful images for both the Orthodox Church and the Whisperers. It is “a holy symbol for making the bad and good decision — going right, going left,” * * ** *** Most of the photos on a Google Image search come from the NY times, so I searched for Szeptun alone, no images, and from a Wiki Polish page clicked on translate;;;; Szeptun, (Szeptuch, witch ) [1] - a person who believes that he has a gift from God or Gods, pH charms for treatment of various ailments physical healing. The name probably comes from the way of healing the sick by szeptuna-quack, who spoke in a whisper to spell his ear. Such an invocation would directly affect the customer's subconscious [2] . "Szeptun" appears today in the folklore of Belarus .

I am a Polish Whisperer (shaman) from my ancestral lineage from southern Poland at the Ukraine border, although 100% Polish, I align with some of the culture of Ukraine and find it close to my sacred art of talisman and amulets that i make. I was the next in line in my lineage to be passed the gifts of the whispeer, but i am a collective Shaman, so its called "Wind-Whisperer" as the ancient storm spirits, wind spirits and fire spirits are my elemental (those of you who know slavic folklore understand what this is), but you will not find wind whisperer in the folk texts because most was eradicated. I am NOT a witch, nor a pagan, I am a shaman, healer and seer in the traditional sense of whisperer (but without any religious influence or limitation), for i rejected them as a child and was very clear on that very young, when I began to experience mystical and magical realities and experiences as a child, teen and young adult. My initiations from my shaman wind whisperer path as a Bird Tribe woman, began when i was 28 years old and ended 2 years when I turned 56, now at 58 I begin my work, everything before this time now, were tests, even though i have been training apprentices for the last 17 years.
I am also a dreamer, a dream walker, remote viewer, emapth, walker between the worlds etc. and have been training a few select women around the world what I hold from my prehistory Slavic and Balkan traditions. Yes there are some traditions that hold a bit of the truth in folk tales and the oral "peasant" traditional stories that some of my grandparents handed down to me. I highly value the knowledge and the secret wisdom that I hold from a long journey of deaths, and my apprentices generally have to be with me for 8 years and undergo master training, which means purity first (no alcohol, no drugs, no pot and no medicine from any doctors to heal their issues), as the first 2 years to get pure enough to even work with me, then the strict spiritual disciplines begin for the next 3 years, I first have to get them grounded and unplugged from men's teachings and grandfathers teachings for the last 2000 years, that takes about 4 years, then we begin the work, if they prove to me that can withstand fear of community and communities judgements and rejection.
I hold much of the lost teachings but its not for everyone, for its very dangerous when not prepared for what they open, I was fated to be on this path, i would never have chosen it as a 'sane' person, but when fate delivered, i responded to the baba jaga call of prehistory.

Hello, and welcome...Your reply was both some what a surprise and interesting. I was not to open your video but do thank you for your consideration and sharing of your trait.
I see you are of the Pacific Northwest. Some time in the past, also my self with my work in the Seattle area. The climate is similar to Denmark and Cuxhaven in my youth, but with this as Scandia/Dansk, grew up with the folkrtro {folkbelief} and the little people {alver}.
Folkbeliefs have a place in time that is passed down from once an event to then of tales to be passed on so as not to be forgotten. Some are dangerious to the unwary so it is best not to scuff at them as simply folkrtro.
It is interesting, your self, and what you do. I am familiar with the coastal region up to the Olympic forest area and Canada.
