When I travel over the ocean (to Poland or to America) I really like gin with tonic... but I did not include it here since this is one of the minor alcohol types

My favorite alcohol is whisky, irish and Scotch. But mostly I drink American bourbons, Four Roses, Jack Daniels, Jim Bean. Next to that I like Polish Vodka's, Duch genevers, and ofcourse beer. Duch people drink a lot of beer, and as a second drink wine. You have beer and wine drinkers. When you are invited for a diner with friends you take a bottle of wine with you. I like Red Californian wine, French Cote du Rhone Villages, South-African Cape wine (Pinotage). Spanish, Australian, Chilean, Hungarian (Bulls blood) and Bulgarian wines are good too.

Merlot red wine, Porto, Jack Daniels, Absolut, Becks, plum vodka from Romania, also Bailey and Irish coffee.
I'd rather avoid alcohol lately.

Hey Guys - lily here...
When husband and I were in Poland last year - wine was very expensive as compared to alcohol...........nothing like Italy. And the quality of the wine was not real good - my husband got turned off to the price and quality and went to Buffalo Vodka - to wash down his grilled Golonka in Zacopane...............then he stayed with this for the six weeks.
We noticed in all the towns we ate at - the women really slug these vodka down - with meals.....it seemed like each person was drinking like six or seven shots from when they first sat down - during the various courses - then the main course - and after dinner one more. And this was even the everyday kind of people.................heavy drinkers!! As for me..............one - maybe two wine's and I start dancing on the table - so my husband has to watch me..................on the other hand - if the band starts to play - and I can dance Polka - Oberek - etc., for say half an hour - then I'm OK..............mix the dance with the food and drink............OK And talk about dancers..............I have never seen so many styles of dancing the same dance - and how well the young men and women dance together - really sharp!! STRONG...........LIKE BULL!!

Pretty much just wine and beer only for me: various California, French and Austrialian wines and I particularly love Guinness and Weissbier (not easy to find in the US)

Jaga
well, I voted other, being gin. I like gin tonics, good flavour. If just would like some thing different, then it is any vodka, as long as it is straight with out any mixer, mixer disagrees with my stomach, if I can get away with it, I prefer to just have a half glass full of vodka with out any ice.
The Banana liquor is good, and also the Peach brandies. They tend to be very sweet.
I really like the beers of Beck and several of the Czech beers.
I guess I would have to say, there are no whiskeys I do not like, as I like it all for the flavour. Just have to watch it is all.
I hate boats though, if on a boat, small or large, no drinks what so ever! I get so sea sick just walking across a floating dock. If the darn sea becomes any thing rough, that is it.

Jaga, I don't know about Tequila but Jabol aka fruit wines are doing very well in Polska. Some are called "nalewka" now since they are technically not wines but rather a fruit juice mixed with some spirit; they are the least expensive. Bums prefer nalewka these days. But check the labels, reviews, their top 10 etc, etc,..... www.winka.jor.pl/index.php?id=opis

Is that the "white beer" from Belgium, Hoegarden (or something like that)? I've a friend in Waterloo who told me about it, we have a local restaurant that has it on the menu, as well as the local "international beer" store a few blocks away from my house (how convenient) . If so, I like it for a change as well. Quite different from anything else I've tried.

My favorite is wine, especially the ones that I make myself. The wife and I picked 60 lbs. of wild dewberries last Spring, I converted 20 lbs. of them into 5 gallons of homemade wine. I have also made wine from grapes, apples and pears.
