They are really special and gives us an insight in another era. I have been there (in Poland) in 1976. My memories are different. Ofcourse real life is in color. (Do you remember the family images I posted in the First World War thread. That was Poland too, in 1976! But in color) Black and white photo's with their grey shadows and essentialism go dieper into the subject of the image. You aren't distracted by the colors! Here a color photo of 1976 PKP Polish 4-6-0 class Ok22 1976Poland, 1976, Wroclaw Zoo.

Jaga
It was good of you in sharing long past photos of your country Poland. It is indeed interesting with a view of the past brought into the present by virtue of photos. I like the clothing styles for people then knew how to dress proper, for men look like men and ladies look like ladies.
The photo of public works employees watering the square plants is interesting in shown of the matter of using a tractor as a power source for pulling the work wagen. It is a pratical and useful manner as many of our farmers use the simular methods in equipment utilization.
It is good to revue the past, for it reminds us where we were and where we are now.

I had forgotten ABBA, they were a hot group with a great many hits, and deserveably so. I had several of their albums and lost them over time and moving about.

Pieter,
your Lokomotywa picture is very nice in color! I think, people from outside Poland were noticing things which for us were so normal.... I was just a girl in Poland in these times. I also remember when Abba came to Warsaw for a weekend....

Karl, glad you liked it. I will post more. I bet in Germany you saw similar pictures, maybe not in 70s but in 60s of watering flowers.

Hmmmm.... will be first to guess at a City Hall with clock tower. I expect the city square / market / Rynik is around the corner. Or am I lost? Kai

These dancing people look professional. Thanks for posting more pictures of Polish lokomotywa. Even Ela knows what Lokomotywa is, thanks to Tuwim's poem.
