The series (11 episodes) tells the story of the village Schabbach, on the Hunsrueck in Germany through the years 1919-1982. Central person is Maria, who we see growing from a 17 year old girl to an old woman, and her family. The family, like the rest of the German people live through the crises after WW-I, the rise and fall of Nazism and WW-II, and the rebuilding and the following prosperity of the village (as a symbol for the whole country) after WW II. Dear Nictoe I was the most adventurous fan of Heimat. It would have been the most advanced of emergency for my self to miss an episode, watched all and enjoyed every minute. Have you watched it? Some of the episodes reminded me most strongly of my own early days growing up in Dänemark. We certainly were not of any money, but supported our selves by what we grew in our large garden/smoke house and trading fresh milk and eggs to both our occupiers during the war and after to supplement our house whole needs. Pieter,
I watched the trailer and it was quite interesting and very european. Some scenes reminded me Poland and Silesia from times when I was a girl and when my mom was a girl. Are these films available online?
