Jaga,
Paris and France is getting to much attention right now. It was like the crash in Ukraine. No disrespect to the Dutch, Malaysian, Australian, British and other victims. But the newscoverage and hype went on and on. For weeks, for months. The plane crash in Indonesia and the crash with the Air France plane in Africa got less attention. You are right that there is no equality in news coverage. The daily, weekly or monthly mass killings in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Libiya and other places in the world get less attention, because no or less Europeans, christians, secular Westerners or jews are murdered there. Muslims, non-Western christians (from the Middle-East, Africa, Asia or Southern-America), animists, Hindu's or Buddhists get less atention, because they are no white, European people. By the way with white European people I mean all white people in the world with an European heritage, so also Americans, Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders and white South-Africans.
Jaga, the Western press is mainly focussed on the interest of the white secular, atheist and partly christian world. It is not political correct to say this, but this is an ethnic, political, racial, cultural, economical and news (media/press) fact. People all over the world are ethnocentric, nationalistic, racist and thus selfcentered. Israel gets more sympathy from Europe and the USA because Israeli's look like Europeans, Americans, Canadians, Australians and New Zealanders. Palestinians look like their Arab brethern, like their Berber fellow Muslims from the Maghreb (North-Africa), the Turks, Kurds and Persians (Iranians) of the Middle-east. They are alien to Europeans. Israeli's for a large part have an European heritage, and speak European languages. France has old ties with both the Arabs and Israeli's. Diplomatic the Middle-east is a very complicated matter for France, the former colonial power in the region.
Cheers, Pieter
P.S.- Maybe I sound like a leftist European or an American traditional liberal. So be it! And before you get the wrong impression, I am not anti-Israel. On the contrary!

Just a comment upon both of your replies. I do agree with both of you and find no fault. Just simply wish to offer a reply as an addition.
France is sitting upon the hot seat at present with some after shocks being experienced withen the confines of cause and effect. What has occurred, has turned into not simply a national tragedy, but one that has gone international even to the event of effect to our American friends across the pond.
The French have turned loose their finest efforts with resources that are theirs to give. Some with very good results, whilst others not so good. This is not unusual in such a situation of concentrated violence with the complications of associated enitial confusion and reaction time for containment time of the event, indentification of all persons associated with the event with associated apprehension of suspects.
France has avoided international condemnation of over reaction and use of force, for the French authorities have done their work very well. What now in the manner of cause and effect is: The electronic attact upon the various web sites in France by hackers of the same genre.
Upon the surface, this would be of minor concern that could be handled in good time. But, not so evident as surface thinking. For France is little different then other highly industrial states, for their industry/businesses and all things using electronic records preservation, is electronic. This includant of medical services even to the event of those wearing pace makers.
We needs be aware: today France, what is next?

Dear Karl,
Yes, France is in shock and Western-Europe and maybe the whole of Europe is in shock. The occurrances indeed have international consequences, because France is part of the EU, NATO, international coalition against terrorism and an important Global Power in the Muslim parts of Black Africa, Berber and Arab North-Africa and the Middle east (due to it's colonial past, business interests, and political and cultural influence and presence).
The French surely have a fine police force, intelligence community and legal system to deal with this curremt threat. Every nation will have difficulties with hunting down terrorist and trying to root out the existance of terrorism on it's soil. Terrorists are often anonymous, unknown, underground cells of people, who are even not known to the majority of the people of their own terror organization, due to the safety and succes of their mission. They are very good at comouflage, hiding themselves and coming out of their hiding places at times of terror actions and thus their planned attacks.
France like Britian has a long history and experience with domestic and foreign threats to it's soil, citizens and nation. The Corsican insergency and criminals, the Algerian Independence struggle, the terrorist far right officers club and their extremists supporters, the Far Left Action Directe (the French sister of the Baader Meinhof Gruppe/Rote Armee Fraction), GIA on French soil (the Algerian Islamist extremists of the nineties, before Al Qaida became big). The French intelligence computer experts will know how to deal with cyber terrorism and hackers on the French electronic highway. In the Netherlands a girl was caught who threatened a large American company with a terrorist bombing. The company didn't took it lightly, and it has severe consequences for her in the legal, punishment and financial sense. In the manner of cause and effect terrorists and jokers (copy cat losers) will have to face serious consequences, because the authorities, intelligence agencies and security aparatus have become very advanced and sophisticated. Ofcourse professional terrorist rings, cells and networks become more organized, equipped and challanged to the law, intelligence agencies and police forces.
France indeed is little different then other highly industrial states, with it's online new economic internet economy, online trade and electronic exchange of important vital information.
Cheers, Pieter

Thank you for presenting the photo-op. It was both interesting and a very dangerious situation of potential. For a great many important leadership lined up together is an extreme hazard to world balance. For one hit could take out so many at one time with very dire consequences for not just the present time, but for the emmediate future for us all.
It is interesting what may be done with careful editing with the present advanced tools we have today. In past, this was accomplished with a great deal of labour with taking a photo, very carefully cutting out the outlines of the material wished for, and then over lapping the emage over a chosen background, then re-photo the results for a new emage. If to remove unwanted back ground, was using a dodger and dark wax pincel to out line for the camera operator to use for refocusing and reshooting the photograph.
We with certain have come a long way in electronic photograpy..
