This is a famous tree that fell 75 years ago, when it was 700 years old. Of course, with all of the natural competition for sunlight the trees grow tall. This is a view of the Forest canopy from a ground squirrel perspective. More of the beauty and variety of the Forest. A good example of the random way the Forest can fall and be recycled. Trees may lay on the ground, hang high in other trees as seems the case in previous photos, or rest nearly on the ground as in this case.

Kai,
beautiful pictures. They remind me my trips to the forests in Poland.

Kai
A nature does the soul good, to feel the air, smell the forest to lay down and let the forest spirits gather over you. As a youngster, this is exactly what I would do. In late summer mornings, the sea fog would come in and give the forest a ghostly feeling.
Thank you for presenting, although a different land you are visiting, the feelings never leave.

Great nature images Kai. We share a fondness of nature, trees and paths in the forest.

If I have the chance I will post some of my Dutch nature images. Sometimes Polish nature images melt with my own memory of Dutch and Belgian nature images. All three nations are in Europe after all and not so far away from eachothers as we might think. We belong to the same continent and we are connected by landmass, rivers, roads, railways, highways and air routes for planes in the sky!
