Dear Jaga,
Denmark and the Netherlands are not absolutist monarchies. In Absolutist monarchies the Monarch has the total power and leads a sort of one party state, the Monarchy. He rules and has little opposition. In the constitutional parlaimentary democratic monarchies we have our kings and queens have ceremonial roles as heads of state (we have no president). All political, military and state power is in the hands of the government, the prime-minister and the parliament. The Dutch king and queen however have a great symbolic power, because they represent the Netherlands abroad and they receive foreign presidents, prime-ministers, kings and queens and sometimes religious leaders.
Their travels abroad with large trade delegations of captains of industry, business men and women, and representatives of employers organisations have a large importance for the Dutch economy and the financial sector. They are important for our import and export sector. Queen Maxima with her financial background. Maxima subsequently worked for large international finance companies in Argentina, New York, and Brussels. She also worked as an English language teacher to children and adults, and of Mathematics for high school students and freshmen. In New York Máxima was working for Dresdner Kleinwort Benson.
Willem Alexander has learnt from his mother a great deal and he has good connections with a lot of European and other monarchies and presidents. Since the Oranges have always had close connections to the political, financial and economical elite of the Netherlands and the world, they know how things work. With their trade missions they accomplish a great deal for the Netherlands. They may have little political, legislative and military power, but they have presidential, financial and economical power. Without hinting at conspiracy theories and dark stories, the membership of the Orange family of the Bilderberg groep conferences gives them also acces to captians of Industry, bankers, influential politicians and others.
The Danish queen is a very charming and intelligent woman. The relationship between the Dutch and Danish royal families are close.
Cheers, Pieter

Jaga I am most sorry to have misunderstood your presentation. Denmark and The Netherlands are Monarchies but not absolute Monarchies for as Pieter had explained. The following is the webset of The Monarchy of Denmark. It is a constitutional Monarchy and keeps close relationship with the Monarchy family of Netherlands. kongehuset.dk/english/front-pageThe following url is the description of Danish Monarchy danishsoldiersclub.com/?page_id=139For as my word appears to be at risk, please to click the above wording of: Dual citizenship-this was a change of law of 01-Sept-15 Karl

I think the absolute monarchies in Europe are Liechtenstein and Monaco. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liechtensteinen.wikipedia.org/wiki/MonacoOther absolute monarchies are the kingdoms of Saoudi Arabia, Morocco, Jordan, Oman and Thailand. Next to that Abu Dhabi and Qatar are absolute monarchies too. Ofcourse you have tribal kings in Africa too, like the monarch of Swaziland, the King of Lesotho, Letsie III, serves a largely ceremonial function; he no longer possesses any executive authority and is prohibited from actively participating in political initiatives. Osei Tutu II (Otumfuo Osei Tutu, born 6 May 1950), is the 16th Asantehene, ruler of Ashanti and Ashantiland and the Kingdom of Ashanti, absolute monarch and head of the Ashanti royal House of Oyoko, King of Ashanti and Ashanti Kingdom and the Ashanti people in Ashanti. King Osei Tutu ascended the Golden Stool (throne) on 26 April 1999. By name, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is in direct succession to the founder of the Empire of Ashanti, Otumfuo Osei Tutu I. Zulu King Goodwill ZwelithiniKwaZulu-Natal is the home to the Zulu monarch, King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu. Although not holding any direct political power, the Zulu king is provided a stipend by the government. He holds considerable influence among the more traditionalist Zulu people in the province. To date, the Zulu kinghas six wives; traditionally, each year a ceremony is performed in which the king receives another wife. This was formerly a way of creating connections among the various peoples. The current King practices the ceremony, called the " Reed Dance", but has not chosen new wives recently.

John was right that Vatican City and Andorra are the only European absolute monarchies. I don't worry about any of these countries, since they are peculiar it their own way. I don't even think that the Vatican has a public school Here is a website with 7 countries with absolute monarchies: listovative.com/7-countries-with-absolute-monarchy-form-of-government/the other five are: Quatar United Arab Emirates Brunei Oman Swaziland
