Pieter It is quite very evident of your interest in your Syrian friend and as a Druze. I think for him, is a time of learning from you in as much to your self of him. Truth comes in many forms, some we do not agree with, whilst in another from, is what we do not wish to hear, but understand the reality of the foundation it represents. In the manner of personal belief system, is neutral in regards to Druze. This means not in any manner as a disagreement with your friend, it only means I do not know him and as such, if perhaps to walk in your shoes, this would be vastly different. What I do know of the Druze, is they are a religious sect and tend to keep to them selves. It is understandably that your friend keeps his religious views as secret, for this is a vehicle of a binding adhesive that binds them together. As thusly so, this is very common with other such sects. I tend to belive that your friendship with your Druze friend is very mutual between you both. Such a friendship irrigardless of origin, needs be tended to by you both as lasting and mutally beneficial. The following url is an easy read and tosses a bit more light upon the Druze to fill in any blank areas of knowledge. www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Society_&_Culture/druze.htmlThere is a great amount of truth in the Druze views of sin in regards in the reality of Christian and Jewish manners of resolving sin that we perhaps do not wish to hear.
