John, it looks like a pancake with no vegetation. I hope all wars would be like that. Did you here there were recently protests at Guam and other places. Locals do not like US military stationed there, on the other hand, this might be the only source of income for them!

Not sure where on this earth you find such gems, but this is one of them. Yes, that worthless island is not worth the explosive to blow it out of what is left of a navigational strait.
There was an agreement draw up between Canada and Denmark in 1973 for drawing up the border line between Canadian Territory of Ellesmere Island and Danish Greenland with a line through the Nares Strait. The problem that was set aside at that time was the line run through the centre of a piece of worthless gient rock of Hans Island.
The big rock is well marked most all charts as a navigation hazard. With modern radar and GPS navigation and sea charts, it is not much other then to the unaware as to create a moment of crises in the wheel house. Being so, those of little knowledge need not be navigating out side of a well marked harbor.
