Hello All, I was watching biking competition. Poles were leading two times, eventually one of the Poles, Majka got a bronze. I am so proud. Yesterday I watched the beginning of the Olympic games, I was in Rio before, I am probably not the only one in this group. It felt so familiar and I felt so lucky to be able to get there and to feel the international spirit.
Sorry for not posting a lot, but after we came back from 1 week vacations there was lots of going on and the games... took the rest of the time.
So, Poles have the first medal!

I just read an interview with Majka, he said that the whole team together with Kwiatkowski, who was on the lead earlier on, was working for him. He was lucky since he avoided a crash, but he was always good in the mountains going up and down. He had crumps at the end, so he didn't have a great finish. You can see how he is suffering:

Poles had a very good start before the Olympic in European track and field competitions. They got many medals, more than anybody expected

Also was I to watch the bicycle race was 6.5 hours length. Your Polish guy was doing so well toward the finish and had avoided several down hill crashes. He was doing so well on the final sprint and then was overtaken by the Belgium fellows. I had wondered what happened to him on the final sprint. Your answer of cramps he suffered completed the reasoning.

Karl, Poles, Russians and Eastern European have a big tradition in cycling. We organized so called Peace Race. It was going through Poland, Czechoslovakia and Eastern Germany and it was really quite an exciting event. I miss it! Jaga Also was I to watch the bicycle race was 6.5 hours length. Guys, there are really many Slavic names. Yesterday Chase Kalisz (Kalisz is a Polish name for one of the oldest Polish town) got a silver in swimming. One of the most famous American swimmers is Katie Ledecky, her father is Czech.
Katie Ledecky again proves she’s the Michael Jordan of swimming, down to the tongue wag

Karl, do you have any chance to watch it in Mexico?

Jaga Yes indeed so, I would tend to believe there would be a revolution here by the people if not to see the games. My self? A bit iffy, just a few bits at a time whilst dragging my feet past one of the view screens. Karl

Karl, yes, it is good that people have the games... by the way, Ela just watched the news from Mexico, did you have a terrible flood somewhere there? I hope you are safe I love olympic games since it brings people together So far we are ok. The State of Tabasco is about I think, a little over 600 Km SE from Puebla and is close to the Gulf of Mexico and catches the related weather. I was to quick check and the cities hit was: Municipalities of Cardenas, Comalcalco and Paraiso. Reports are of 7.000 with 2.000 of those effected being in Cardenas. Puebla is in a deep mountain valley protected to extent by the mountains. Dependant though upon other situations with the mountains by weather if to bring early warm rains to melt the high mountain snows too quickly or, one or more volcanos should heat up causing flash flooding and related mud slides that could dam off the river for a sudden release of flood waters. Seems no matter the location is the curse. Thank you for your concerns, most appreciated... Karl
