I am trying to find out what town my Grandmother came from. It was either Bogdanka or Bogdauka. Bogduaka on her manifest list from ship but Bogdanka on Official Passenger record same ship. The other information I have is her wedding info. So I have added an attachment of that info. She married Boleslaw Koc form Barow. She was Michalina Lukaszkowa from either Bogdanka or Bogdauka. If some could please decipher the writing on the attached it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Kelbrit, it has to be Bogdanka or Bogdanki. Bogduaka is NOT a Polish name, so it had to be misspelled by somebody who does not know Polish. Stanislaw Koc is probably from BOROWA, not Borow, at least this is how i see it.

Your family has to be from Central Poland, near Koluszki, since both villages: Bogdanka and Borowa are nearby... on the other hand there is an information that ther are from Grodno area, which would mean Eastern Poland, located in Belarus now en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koluszki

Thank you for that but do you know what the writing is below my Grandmothers name? Looks like "Bogdauka (we know that) then the word "poch" then the word "Sunusr" (sp?) then both my grandfather and grandmother have the word "grodna" (sp?) at the end. I may be wrong but I think they say where these people come from. It's like here is the States. I live in the town of Southport in the County of Brunswick in the state of North Carolina.
Thank you

Jaga Second question. It would stand to reason that they came from the same area in Poland because all cousins and friends settled in the same town in Suffield Ct. But I went to find the two towns on a map mapa.szukacz.pl/. I found Koluska and Borowa but can not find Bogdanka anywhere near them. What is the weblink that you used to fine Bogdanka near Koluszki and Borowa. Is Bogdanka north south east or west of Borowa? But when I do go to that site mapa.szukacz.pl and type in Bogdanka you get 4 different Places a town named Bogdanka can be but none are near Koluszki. Also according to this map there is a Borowa Gora (like in my attachment) near (I think) Warsaw. Then there is a Winna Gora (like atttachment). I think Gorna as in the attachment means Provence. Sorry for all the confusion Kelbrit Thank you

Jaga Thank for that map. But when I go to another map it show about 4 different Bogdanka's. I am guessing that the one you gave me is correct because of the people that settled here must have know their families in Poland. Question. Can you please find me the names of some Catholic Churches in and around Bogdanka? I will write them each in the slim hope that I can find the Church she was Baptized in. Thank

Would you like me to send you info about a person who can do a research for you for a small fee? If you do I will send you an e-mail. I just don't have enough time during the day.
