Today a Muslim council woman was the first one to react positively to my facebook christmas message posting. She is also a member of an interfaith radio program of my station.

Dear friends,
Among Polish friends and family of my 'Polish' mom there are people on both sides of the aisle too. Poland and the Poles are very divided. We know PiS supporters personally and we know people of the opposition. The situation even tore one branch of my Polish family apart. Two cousins of mine, sisters of eachother, broke ties with eachother. Very sad and unfortunate.
The situation in Poland thus has also very personal, very human consequences in families and amongst friends.
I hope my cousins will reconnect in time, but the political polarization and cultural differences (different partners, different opinions, on two sides of the aisle) make it hard. It is sad that families, circles of friends, acqaintances, colleages and cultural and social gatherings or organisations of people are also divided and in discord.
It will have to stop one day before it burst out into agression, intolerance and violence towards one another.
Cheers, Pieter

Pieter
I only surmise of the sensitivity as a family matter of your mother, and thusly directly effects you for also they are relatives of yours. For this, my self must tread upon this very lightly,in response.
The positive side though is, your family as being divided upon their personal feelings toward their government. This would at least on the surface, means fundamentally indictive with total convection their point of view is the correct view point that their belief in the currant government is the correct one.
In short, your family members in Poland are very actively interested in the affairs of their government.

Pieter, this is a great example of understanding and respecting feelings of others. I wish people saw the examples of good Muslims instead of finding the bad ones. Today a Muslim council woman was the first one to react positively to my facebook christmas message posting. She is also a member of an interfaith radio program of my station.

Dear Jaga, Yes it is a great example. I see the examples of good Muslims, Christians, jews, Hindu's, Bahai people and others around me. I wish people in general would see the examples of good people of other cultures and faiths in general instead of finding the bad ones. Past year I have invested time, energy and work into this lady and other members of her party, two other Turkishj guys with a Muslim background. I have learned a great deal from that contacts. Problems aren't solved, challanges still lie on our path, but we communicate, talk and meet at least. Fact is that christianity and Islam are the largest religions in the Netherlands and other Western-European countries. We have to coexist and find a way to communicate and work together for a shared and common future. I just heard an excellent christmas speech of the Dutch King. I am not a monarchist as you know, but I have to say that in this polarized time his speech was excellent. Cheers, Pieter
