9 March 2007 Dear Friends, After a lot of reading and looking up different recipes, I have just finished posting two articles at Suite101 about Nalesniki: Next year, when the copyright is up for Suite101, I'll post them at the Polish Culture site. Meanwhile, please take a look at them, and if you have a minute or two, please read the articles. Comments, suggestions are always gratefully received. Of course, the articles are short because we are supposed to have a 400-word-maximum...I strayed a little over in the second article; also maximums on titles and summaries. I do think I am going to "break down" nad buy myself one of those electric crepe makers from the King Arthur Flour Company ;D Stay warm all of you friends in the north I've spent the day keeping warm with several layers of clothing, etc. but not to much effect...brrr GM

03/09 Yes, Jaga I agree...pictures would have been nice But...at this point, I am also realistic enough to know that if I waited until I had my pictures the articles would never have been written! That's why I used the picture of the cookbook cover in article#1 and will (sometime this weekend) go back to article#2 and insert a picture of the Strybel book cover. At some point (when I have enough people to eat the Nalesniki- next time I am with my daughters' families in VA) I will make some and take some pictures. I am afraid that even though this is one of my favorites from childhood, it is not one of my husband's favorites Anyway, I am glad that you found that the articles were all right, and will be willing to include them next year GM

Nice article GM. I'm going to give it a shot and put it on my to make list. As for the electric crepe maker if you do decide to get one give us your review. I tend to stay away from gadgets unless they are really better than the old fashioned way. In other words...really works and is a time saver. Othrwise it becomes one more piece of equipment taking up space.

Jaga I checked out your post on the website and see you are on overload as you stated in earlier post. Your recipe has duplicate entries and it is "baking" powder not backing powder. Very important when writing recipes...LOL Maybe Ela can read your posts after you enter them to see if she spots some errors. I was looking all over for this recipe and could not find it in the forum. Now I see cause it is under Traditions and I was looking in Food and Recipes.

Chris, thanks. Frankly, I would probably never spot a difference between backing and baking powder. Thanks for telling it to me. Ela is getting ready to teach me English
