Danuta Szaflarska, although never a superstar, has some characteristics roles in Polish iconic films - like forbidden songs. She was a great person, who did not really care for her fame and this probably kept her young in soul for so many years. SHE HAD AN AMAZING SMILE, even when she aged. She debuted on the big screen in 1946, after which she appeared regularly on screen, mostly in supporting roles. Her film career regained momentum in the 1990s, when she won several Polish film awards for best actress for her role in ‘Time to Die’ (1998). She continued acting well into old age and decided to finish her career only last year due to health concerns. (mol/pk)
